My life has somehow taken a very agonizing turn, and this road is too steep for me to go on, if you know what I mean. My humanity is stained with memories of bloodshed and death. I no longer feel happy, or loved, or safe. For starters, I'm in a fucking box. I mean, how the fuck did I get here anyway? I've gone through just about enough of loss and grief as any sadistic person would write in a full series, in Just the past few horrible weeks. You know what? I'm done. I'm tired of this shit, and I'd rather be dead than be sitting here, just waiting for some new monster that I have read about to pop up in front of me and prove to me that Fairytales do exist, just like the lie your parents told you right before bed every night. Well, since there are monsters here, in real life, then, I guess they were unintentionally telling us the truth...

My journey started a few days ago,  during school.  The day was almost over. I was sitting in class next to my friend Carina. We were in Texas History class listening to our teacher, Ms. Rodriguez, rant about Anglos and the colonization of Texas. Now, I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but I nearly fell asleep twice.

"When is she ever going to stop talking?" Carina said in a low, exasperated tone, and apparently, a little too loud, because everyone was looking at her, including Ms.Rodriguez. Just as Ms. Rodriquez opened her mouth to say something, the bell rang and we all hurried out, ready to finally go home.

I was living an ordinary life at the age of thirteen, going to school, hanging out with friends, and even straight A's every now and then. I was single, my parents were separated, and I stuck out like a red brick on a grey house. I was taller than most people, and I always wore my signature grey jacket. Because of this, I looked a bit bigger than I was, and tended to freak people out by my phantom size. Other than that, I was pretty much the normal. Brown hair, brown eyes, et cetera.  anyway, enough about me.

Me and my 2 best friends, Diamond, and Kayla, walked home together, like any usual day. We talked about homework, fat assistant principles, and even Kayla's bee-hive like weave.

"Did you guys finish the project yet?" said Kayla. She was talking about our science project, where we had to make a slideshow about a certain animal, and its scientific information. Yeah, boring stuff.

"Yeah, I finished that last week. It wasn't that hard, just took time." answered Diamond, in a proud tone.

Well, I guess I should tell you wonderful readers their features.  Kayla is what you call a stick. She has dark skin, black hair with long braids, and she is also what you call a "drama queen". I guess you could say she was ordinary, but once you get to know her, she is pretty introverted, yet evil. She has once admitted to have hung Barbie dolls from a ceiling fan, turned it on, and enjoyed seeing them fly around until their heads disconnected from them, and their bodies flying in all directions.

Now Diamond is also black, but very short. she changes her hair style often, but today it was down, and wavy. Diamond was born psychic, and knew that something was going to happen, whether good or bad. The only thing she didn't know was when it would take place. I always envied her in that sense, even if her ability was not very descriptive about stuff. She had been feeling uneasy all week. Now I understand why.

As we're talking, I noticed something standing far ahead of us. It looked.... Dark and sinister. It was a tall, shadowy, human-like figure, and it gave me the chills. As we got closer, i could distinguish certain things about it. It wore what looked to be a cloak, ripped at the bottom. It was facing away from us, but stood like a statue. everything about it looked like a nightmare. And something else about it made me confused. It looked like it was levitating.

As I wondered to myself what it was I didn't realize my friends were looking at it too, and I was startled out of my stare by Kayla's sudden change in tone.

"I think we should take the long way home. That guy is creeping me out." Kayla said, her voice becoming a soft whisper, yet stern and serious.

"How about we stay at my house for a little while, and think of a way to get you guys home." Said Diamond quickly, giving more of her attention to the ghostly figure. As we saw the creature's head turn in our direction, she quickly urged us to the right side of the street, and we turned the corner, out of view. We kept running, until we saw Diamond's house in the distance. Maybe we can-

It was too late. The ghostly thing had spotted us. It appeared right in front of us, as if it teleported.

"What is that thing?!?!" I yell . As it turns its head toward me with golden laser like eyes, as if they were piecing right through my being. Can it be? From all the stories I've heard, it looks like...

It had a hooded black robe on. The bottom of the robe looked like it had blood stains on it, like it had been trotting through puddles of the blood of his recent victims. It's eyes gleamed with what I could only call bloodlust. The rest of its face wasn't there, as if it didn't exist.

"What the hell is that?!" I repeat, and as soon as I said it, I regretted my persistence. it angled its head slightly, making him( I inferred the gender, yet I'm still not sure if it even has a gender ) creepier.

"I'm the reaper who will take what's owed. You are to die today, Lauryn." Its voice was so demonic, I felt like hell itself spoke to me. It was lower than a bass drum, but muffled by some evil feeling of dread and agony of its earlier victims, that lead me to the jolt of fear that I was going to die.

Suddenly I had this overwhelming headache that made light and sound feel like arrows driving through my skull. My knees felt weak, and I shut my eyes as hard as I could, only to find memories flashing over and over under my eyelids. I fall on my knees, and cover my ears. I started feeling like this was the end of me. I was going to die.

I lay down for what seemed like eternity, and suddenly hear someone yell, "Lauryn!". There's someone else here! I'm not alone. Kayla and Diamond are here. I can't just give up like that. Not with them here. Get up! Don't let this monster get to you. It's not going to hurt you. It's just a coincidental migraine.

I try to stand, and wince at how much it hurt. My brain felt like it was trying to ram itself out of my skull.  Then, I make a horrible error. I opened my eyes.

I catch a glimpse of my friend's horrified faces, then shut my eyes tight again. Bad idea. As I try yet again to stand, the pain becomes unbearable. My legs give up on me, and I feel the cool ground underneath  me. My awareness is slowly fading along with the voices of my friends. Why is this happening ?  What is  going to happen to me?  I think to myself, horrified, not quite wanting my questions to be answered.

I hear the screams of my panicking friends, and they seem so distant now. As I'm laying on the ground, I begin to give in to the dark thoughts running through my head. Maybe I deserve to die. Why else would this thing be here?  As my thoughts begin to dissipate, I suddenly realize what is happening. This is not a migraine, this is the reaper taking my soul.
