"Hey Copper! Whatcha dreaming about? Having friends?" Called out Drew Sterling as he and his friends danced and cackled around my lunch table. Drew Sterling. Ha! I laugh in the face of Drew Sterling. My name's Penny Albright. Technically, it is Penelope Jean Stetter Albright, but everyone calls me Penny. Except Drew Sterling and his idiot friends, who prefer Copper.
"Clever, Drew!" I faked a laugh, " Copper, like a penny is copper! Ha! I'm glad you finally learned what copper is! Clever, clever, clever!" I walked away laughing in the most obnoxious and sarcastic way I could.
"Copper! Wait up! You know when you find pennies and stuff with gum on them? You aren't truly a penny without some mint flavoring!" My initial reaction was to turn around and punch that dummy in his fat face. Let me tell you something, wrong reaction. The next thing I knew, five massive dopes were jumping on me and rubbing gum in my hair. I shouted, but they wanted to get every last sticky sugary morsel stuck on every piece of hair they could possibly touch. They were laughing in their deep voices, and the whole cafeteria just became slow motion, like what you see in those movies before the guy faints. One final spit in the hair from Drew, and they were gone, running away to pick on someone else. Now, you are probably thinking, "Wow, the love of her life should be coming to help her up now, because even though he is friends with this Drew guy, he is sensitive and has had a mass crush on Penny forever!" Too bad, you're wrong. The rest of the day consisted of me going to call my mom, who was only a little bit drunk at the time, to pick me up, going home, getting yelled at, a lot of explaining, a lot of showering, doing some homework, more showering, and brushing. Brush brush brush, did those idiots use extra EXTRA sticky? So, this was my first day of horror. I hope you realize that this isn't going to be some frilly ass love story.
