June, 20th, 2016,- Katie

Finally it was my 18th birthday, I was waiting so long for this day, because I am the youngest in our group of friends. I hadn't even opened my eyes as my best friend Nina nearly fell over her own feet while hurrying into my room. I heard her coming upstairs, since she is'nt the most silent person in the world. "KATIE, OH MY GOD, WAKE UP, I HAVE KEPT QUIET FOR SO LONG NOW. I GOT MEET AND GREET TICKETS FOR MAGCON IN BERLIN!" In the very moment i heard the word "magcon" my eyes were wide open satring at her as I sat upstraight in not even the tiniest fraction of a second. "Phew, I finally got this off my mind. Happy birthday, by the way" She says and passes me a couvert, which got the tickets inside of it and a bag of bacon crisps (my all-time favourites). "Here, you don't like chocolate, you incomprehensible something, are you okay, or are you just screaming mentally? Because from your reaction i cannot take any sort of feedback, to be honest."I have stayed silent, the whole time, I was staring at the couvert like a total dumbass. I could not believe it. This was the first time ever it occured that I was left speechless.

"I...uhm...how...you said that..." I don't even know how I got those words stumbled out of my mouth. I could not even think clear. "Yeah, I know I am pretty awesome. You don't even want to know how gruelling it was, to get hold of those tickets. First I had to persuade your mumma in letting you go to Berlin with me, then, remember that weekendtrip to Denmark you made on the exact day the tickets have gone to sale? I nearly felt sorry to see you that way. But like I said, nearly. You, somewhere in the nowhere of Denmark, staring at the sea, crying probably. Isn't that quite romantic, well.." She interrupts, because she was laughing at one of her own jokes again, a thing she does always, and most of us don't even understand why she does that. "but, like I said," she continues, still slightly laughing, "you are going to meet them and get to talk to them" She must have been talking, but somehow her voice blurred in my mind, because all I could think off was me and him. I know, I am a bit of a fangirl, but Cameron is lightening up my life in so many ways. This may sound more cheesy but anything, because I don't even know him, even though I feel like I do, better than anyone else. If this isn't my biggest dream coming true right now, I don't know what is.

I feel something shaking my arm "HELLO? KATIE, ARE YOU THERE?!" Nina must have been talking for ten minutes straight. It comes to my mind that I still haven't said anything to her, right now I was just looking at her like the biggest hillbilly in the world grinning from one ear to the other. I embrace her in the biggest hug I have ever gave somebody and start crying, I'm literally sobbing my eyes out. I have never felt more happiness. I am mumbling some thank you's and you are the best's, but somehow I still couldn't realize a thing that just happened. Something knocks on my door, my mother tucks her head into my room and smiles. "Happy birthday, my love! Did you like the present Nina got for you?" I nodded heavily and say thank you while smiling. "Do you two want some breakfast? I have made pancakes for us, the annual birthday tradition." Mum asks. My father and my mum don't live together anymore. They got divorced a couple of years ago, and I am totally fine with that. I still see my father during the school holidays, he moved over to Australia, where he was born. He has a new wife over there. My mum does not have a new partner, even if she did have a new one, I would not mind. Nina and I both look at eachother and nod "Of course we want pancakes!" we say monotonous. We are more like sisters, she has been my best friend since primary school, we have been together through everything, every up and down in eachothers lives. I am really thankful to have such a close friend, and I know that she is in the same way. As we go downstairs to head to the kitchen, Nina and I are already talking about how we both are looking forward to go to Magcon in a few weeks. Right, it is only a few weeks left. My heart makes a massive jump thinking about that. As we enter the kitchen the table is completely set with every food you could dream of.

But then I see a little parcel, not much bigger than a box of chocolates. I can only hint that it is made from leather, as my mum lays her arm around me from the side and places a big kiss on my cheek. "I love you" she whispers.
