When the elderly witch sat down in the old oak rocker facing the northern lights, she knew that she didn't have much time. These would be her last northern lights, she would miss the light, romantic pinks, intertwining with the serpentine greens, but she had more important things to do. She wanted her life to have meant something, even if only to a few people, it would mean something. She pulled her ripped and tattered blue knit shawl tightly around herself. She was accustomed to drafts blowing through the old, rotting planks in the house. Her shaky hands reached into the pocket of her robe and pulled out a yellowing piece of parchment. At the top, a word was hastily scrawled: Ilvermorny. Below was an intricate drawing, etched onto the paper with an old quill. The drawing featured her house, but it was surrounded by other things, namely, people. Five large homey cabins were sketched around the house. Billows of smoke curled out of each one's stone chimney. A boy with a wand was casting some sort of spell at a snowman, and he had a distinctive blue and white striped cap and scarf, as well as a bear shaped badge on his thick, winter robe. Five animals were sketched at the top, a polar bear, similar to the one the boy was wearing, a reindeer, an arctic fox, a moose, and a snowshoe hare. This had been sketched by her husband, who had passed away several years before, he had always dreamed of building this place called Ilvermorny, but he had gotten sick, and he had been unable to produce it. The old witch had known that enchanting this rickety old shack, and turning it into something like Ilvermorny would drain her. So much that she probably wouldn't survive, but the time was right now, so she began to scrawl on the back of the parchment her instructions for the school, when her son and daughter returned from holiday, hopefully they could get Ilvermorny working. At last, the old woman gazed lovingly at the northern lights for one last time, and then began to mutter spells, growing louder as each window repaired itself, a new gloss appeared on the raw floors, and as the cabins sprung up outside...
