'Ugh, I hate plane rides. Why did the moroi court have to be so far away from my home.' I'm having to take an airplane to get to Rose. She's meeting me at the airport, along with the queen/her best friend. Some Vasalissa chick. I know I know. I should know the queens name and blah blah blah.Pffft whatever! I worry about kicking major strigoi ass and protecting the moroi. I don't have time to worry about some pathetic royal stuff.  My phone buzzed and I look down to see a message from Rose:  'Something came up. The moroi will pick you up. '    Great.
I climb down off the steps of the plane and look around. Rose told me the moroi would be picking me up, but she didn't exactly give me a hint as to what he looks like. As I scanned the crowd in the lights of the airport (it's dark) I spot three moroi. Seeing as two of them were chicks I made my way towards the male. He was tall and wore what looked like sports designer clothes. His hair was a luscious dark chestnut brown that had that 'I just rolled out of bed' look. As I approached, he must've heard me coming because he spun around. His eyes widened as he took me in and I stumbled a bit. His eyes...they had to be the most beautiful breathtaking eyes in the world. They were a gorgeous startling emerald green that was so deep in color you could lose yourself in them. They were the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.
His surprised look dropped into it must've been his signature cocky grin. "Take a picture, love. It'll last so much longer." My eyes narrowed instantly. "What do you mean by that?" I asked dangerously. He chuckled, "Just that you were staring. If you see something you like, take a picture and you can keep it forever." I roll my eyes and shrug. "I like your eyes." I say nonchalantly. He laughed out loud and for some odd reason the sound makes my stomach feel all weird. "Honest. I like it. You must be the beautiful Alex Hathaway." he says smiling crookedly at me. I raise my eyebrows at the fact that he called me Alex. He laughs again. "I did my homework, little dhampir. My name," he does a little flourishing bow type thing. "Is Adrian Ivashkov." Adrian Ivashkov was astonishingly good looking even for a moroi. "It's nice to meet you Adrian but let's head out. I want to see my sister." I say impatiently. "Slow down, little dhampir, we'll get to it." he replies and grabs my duffel. I follow him as he leads me out of the airport and across the street. We get further away from the lights and I spot a black car that looks like it's built for speed parked under a dim street light on the corner. As we make our way towards it, my eyes flit around nervously. I get a bad feeling and move closer to Adrian. I have to be ready to protect him,no matter what. It's my job. The moroi come first. My stomach flips nervously and I know something is about to go down. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a flash of red and freeze. I see a tiny movement in the dark and step to Adrian as he tries to unlock the car. I put my hand on his shoulder and he looks at me.  His face hardens in response to the warning in my eyes and we both turn. "Show yourself!" I hiss, dropping into a half crouch in front of Adrian. After a few seconds, a male strigoi, in all his scary red eyed glory, stepped out of the shadows...along with two strigoi companions. "Aww hell!!!"
