The Meet

We moved into a duplex. A duplex is two smaller houses connected together.

I walked outside and there was a fence all around are backyard. The fence was taller than me!

"Jaylin," My mother was calling me, "Jaylin, come get the boxes for your room." I was well on my way. Come to think of it, I hadn't even been to my new room. I wondered what it would look like.

"Here, Jaylin? Are you alright, you seem distracted."

"I'm not distracted, I'm wondering why the backyard fence is so high." She didn't give an answer so I just went upstairs. It was awesome and I was happy that my parents were giving me the whole upstairs because they can't stand my cat, Harper. They just think Harper's annoying and when she's around them she does get in trouble.

Anyway, I decided to go out onto the balcony and look outside. I could see the other yard, and I saw a boy. He looked about my age, he was sitting on the ground crisscross, and it looked like he was writing in a notebook. I went back to my room and saw a curtain in the middle of the wall on the right side of the balcony doors.

I went to go move the curtain-"Jaylin Marie Herrman, you do not ever open that window!"

"Why not?" Again no answer. Then she just put a few more boxes in my room and then left. I decided to go out onto the balcony and see that the boy's balcony was connected to mine. I then jumped over onto his, and the door was open. I went inside and looked at the wall. He had a curtain too. I went back to mine room and as I was crossing over to my balcony, someone grabbed me.

"Who do you think you are, and what are you doing?" It was the boy who asked me.

"My name is Jaylin Herrman, and let go of me first," He did reluctantly.

"I'm Jakob Lese, what were you doing in my room?" Jakob asked again.

"I was seeing if you had a curtain on the one wall. Now I am going back to my room-"

"Wait." Jakob just looked at me for a while before asking, "Can I help you unpack?"

"Um yeah," I hopped over his balcony onto mine and he did the same. We started to unpack and we were done when the sun was just about to go down.

And that's when we met for the first time.
