Shady here. This is an imitation poem. It is based off of Langston Huges's A Dream Deferred. I'll put his first so that you can see what I was imitating.
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore-then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over-- like syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load
Or does it explode
That's his. The one below is mine.
What happens to a dream lost?
Does it disappear like dew in the morning sun?
Or decay like a child's toy, forgotten in the woods?
Does it cry to be found again, like a child separated from their mother?
Or weep like a senior, who's family has long since stopped coming around?
Maybe it just dissipates like the smoke from an old fire?
Or does it just fade?
For any of you who want to make your own, I used this:
What happens to a dream __________?
Does it __________________________?
Or ____________________________?
Does it __________________________?
Or ____________________________?
Maybe ______________________?
Or does __________________?
Make your own and post them in the comments! I would love to see what you guys come up with.
