Chapter One

"Mom, stop worrying" I say.

"I can't help it that I won't see my baby for around four years."

"Mom, it's just school."

"Yes, but you're so far away it's very difficult for me to visit you."

"I'm just going to Britain, mom. It's not like I'm never coming home."

"Well, you and I don't know if that's a true statement."

"I know. I don't know if I'm going to move and stay there or not but, even if I do, I'll make a living out of myself and visit you whenever. Okay?"

"Alright, sweetie. Just, please, be careful."

"Don't worry mom. I will be. I could come back a different person, but I'll still be the conscious me I've always been."

She and I talk this way in some sort of loop for what feels like forever. Eventually, I see my flight is coming in around an hour, and when I point it out to her, she doesn't take a second to think about helping me load my things into the car. She tells me the entire way there just how much she loves me, and I return that love. We soon arrive at the airport and say our goodbyes.

"I'm gonna miss you, mom."

"You have no idea how I feel, then. I mean, come on, I birthed you."

"I would hope so."

"I love you so much, Britney."

"I love you so much more than you could imagine."

I quickly hop out of the car with my luggage before she can respond. I wave and blow a kiss, and she does the same.

As I board my plane, I realize how much I miss her already.
