Chapter 1

An orangish-brown haired girl walked down a deserted street. Leaves littered the ground, making fall quite obvious and beautiful. A red-blonde boy walked by her side and a black haired boy behind them. The red-blonde and the girl laughed and chocked out words through the excessive giggles. Her cries were contagious. The black haired boy cracked a smile, then pulled a serious face. He looked dis pleasured. Mad.

"Cleo, you know you can't go around beating people up! I will leave and if that's what it takes to get you to act right, then that's what will happen." The boy was next to her now, on the opposite side of the red-blonde. She addressed him back.

"Aiden, you need to calm down! I'm perfectly fine dong what I want and I'm tired of you always having a go at me. You always worried too much when we were younger, and you still worry now. You're never going to have any fun if all you do is worry about me and my actions! You're not my boyfriend or my father or my brother!" She snapped. The boy called Aiden looked hurt at Cleo's harsh words. But she had meant them. She was tired of him trying to control her. She was a free spirit and that wouldn't change. Ever. She turned to the red-blonde.

"Damien, when we get home, I need you to check the inventory. I'll have to send Sean out to get some more by tomorrow because we are almost out of bagels, I know for sure." Damien nodded and went back to explaining what he was doing in math class, and what had happened before they'd left the school.  Cleo had punched and kicked a girl in the courtyard at school. The girl was horrible. She had short, dark choppy and uneven hair that fell to her shoulders. Her teeth were perfect, despite the state of her hair. She had brown eyes, unlike Cleo's blue ones. They were shallow and gleamed with hatred.  She'd messed with Cleo, and Cleo was not going to let her get away with it. She'd slammed the girl against a tree.

"Get your dirty, filthy, gross hands of of me, you trash can!!" The girl had shrieked. Cleo did exactly that. In a different manner. She yanked the girl of the tree, throwing her off behind herself. Several loud popping and cracking noises were heard, and the collar of the shirt was  hanging by a thread. Damien guffawed and Aiden stared, mouth wide open.

"Who in the hell are you calling 'trash can'? Have you checked the mirror lately? At least my hair doesn't look like Freddy fucking Krueger cut it for me!!"  Cleo screeched back. The girl turned blood-red. She raised her hand as if to strike Cleo and Aiden shouted.

"Addie, NO!!" It was too late. Cleo's instincts kicked in. She kicked Addie in the stomach and hit her in the jaw. Then, she stormed off. She was not going to stay in a place where a person as low as Addie Barker was. Damien followed, soon trailed by Aiden. That was the end of that day.
