The First Huntress of Artemis

Chapter 1

Many people came to Thebes hearing the news that a child of Poseidon was going to be born. Everyone was hoping that it was going to be a boy because only boys could be strong enough to be heroes.

Sally of Thebes and lover of Poseidon had just gone into labour and after agonising hours of pain a child was born. A girl. Sally had thought the baby would be a boy because Poseidon had only sons.

Sally was very worried. Once people found out the baby was a girl they would blame her and might try and kill her and the baby. So Sally toke her baby and fled.

When the news that the child of Poseidon had been born a girl people had been furious. Girls couldn't be heroes. Only males could. The people blamed the mother for the child being born a girl.

Sally travelled for days. She had left the city of Thebes and went through some villages in Thebes to reach the seaside. When she had reached the seaside she called for her lover, Poseidon to save her and their child.

Poseidon hearing his lover call, swept Sally away somewhere safe but left the child. He loves Sally and he cares more for her then their child. The Child had caused Sally so much trouble, she had to flee her home because of it. He reverses to acknowledge it as his child. It was for the better because his wife won't get angry with him and the child maybe found and raised by mortal parents. So he abandoned his child that he thought was a son.

Hephaestus had seen that the baby had been abandoned and feel a connection to the child because he to had been abandoned. So he found a mortal couple who wanted children but were unable to and he led them to the seaside where the baby was.

Theo was on a walk with his wife at the seaside. They lived in a small village in Thebes and desperately wanted children but his wife couldn't have children.

Suddenly Theo hears something. The cries of a baby and on the sand laid a beautiful baby rapped in a blanket. Theo and his wife took the baby home. They couldn't believe someone would give up such a beautiful baby girl. They believed that the Gods had answered their prayers and had given them this child. They named the baby girl Alyssa meaning Logical in Greek. They know that Alyssa is special and will be destined for great things.

Everyone will know Alyssa of Thebes.
