I stood frozen in terror as Majesty continually bludgeoned my mother to death with a rolling pin. The woman who raised me, attacked as she was doing the dishes. Blood was all over the kitchen sink, dripping down the cabinet to the floor. A mix of blood and water splashed across her apron, bubbles rising from the sink as majesty held my mother's head in the sink to make sure she was dead. Poor Mother. If she had asked my sister Teresa to wash the windows instead of me she might have lived. uh, let me back up a bit.
I met Majesty the summer I turned 8. It was right after we moved to South Carolina. you see, my some cranky, meth heads murdered my grandmother when she walked in on them robbing her Florida condo. My mom was a complete basket case for months. my dad forced us into the minivan one day and off we went. he said we all needed a fresh start, I think he was plum crazy. I guess i can't be too annoyed, after all, moving in next to majesty was great. She was my best friends with me the second we met.
Majesty said we were royalty, we shouldn't do work of the peasants. She was a princess, and I a prince. When someone suggested we do chores, she tended to get irate. So when my mother asked me to wash the windows I tried to avoid it. Once she threatened to ground me though, Majesty got upset. It was then that the kitchen turned into a scene that looked like it belonged in a Wes Craven movie. There was nothing I could do but watch as my helpless mother paid for her fatal mistake. I can't say that I blame majesty. I didn't want to wash windows, at least now I didn't have to. On the other hand, my father was going to be my caretaker from now on, not a joyous fact.
Majesty also tends to get angry when other people talk to me. When I started school in the fall there was this girl Annie who seemed to try everything in the known world to talk to me. She so desperately wanted to be my friend. I can't say I returned the feeling, but I didn't hate the girl. We met in Ms. Williams's class; I was the kid who sat in the back of the class. Annie took it upon herself and speak to me, one day at recess it was a simple "hi, how are you?" Nothing bad but according to Majesty she was getting in the way of our friendship. Part of me just thinks majesty was jealous of Annie.
Annie was blonde with freckles and the bluest eyes I've ever seen. Her hair was always brushed and braided. She seemed like the kind of girl that came from the city. Judging by the dresses she wore she either had parents who were gazillionaires or ran on old money. Majesty had dull brown eyes and was always in jeans and dark tops. Never dresses. Her short black hair was always messy. Majesty said she didn't need stinky parents to buy her clothes. She'd rather steal them.
So one day after school I asked Annie if we could play outside for a bit before we headed home. I thought Majesty had gone home but I guess I was stupid to think so, majesty never left my side. Annie accepted my invitation and we met outside to the playground after school. I asked her if she wanted to swing. She agreed and I started to push her as we exchanged stories about our families. She started telling me all about her family, how her mom was in jail and her dad basically just watched the television and drunk his funny juice all day. Guess her grandparents were the rich ones. After I told her about my grandma, I sat next to her in silence for a few minutes until Annie reached to grab my hand. She had a sheepish grin on her face and looked down as she told me "Jeffrey I think I like you". I winced at the sudden confession.
I jumped to my feet and asked her "Why like me? Wouldn't you rather like that preppy kid Seth, the one that was scared of frogs and always smelled like hair gel?" Annie just sat there with a frown on her face. She spoke up and said "well, I thought maybe you would be boyfriend and girlfriend?" I saw Annie start to tear up and I turned back to see Majesty standing behind us. I tried to explain, "Majesty won't be very happy" but just Annie looked confused and sad. Majesty grabbed Annie when she stood up from the swing
Majesty threw Annie back into the swing, her neck resting on the plastic seat. Majesty started spinning Annie and the chains from the swing tightened around her neck. Annie was kicking and attempting to scream but couldn't. Her face began turning purple and blue. Finally Majesty let go of the swing, Annie's neck was broken, if that didn't kill her first, it was the lack of air. I turned to run, feeling sick to my stomach as I saw what majesty had done.0
I remembered I left my backpack in Mrs. Williams's room. I asked majesty to stay outside as I went in. When I got back to the classroom Mrs. Williams was standing by the window with a horrified look on her face. "Mrs. Williams?" she was startled at first, she turned to me and said "Jeffrey, hi" she was acting weird. "Jeffrey is there something you want to tell me, something about Annie?" I glanced at her and began to smile I said "Nope" Ms. Williams pulled two chair's from a table. She turned back to me and said 'Jeffrey I think you should sit down" I was getting a little angry at her, I wish she could just let me go home! Wait did she see what Majesty did to Annie? I took a seat right next to Ms. Williams, she was scared, and she must have seen what happened. I noticed that she had the stapler right next to her. "Jeffrey, I...I called the cops. "She stuttered. I glanced out the window at Annie's lifeless body." Great, now Majesty is going to go to jail," I thought.
It's like Majesty read my mind because there she was, standing behind Ms. Williams with a ruler, the old school kind with the metal edge. I stood up to protest and the next thing I know I had a stapler to the face. Poor Ms Williams should have known I wasn't the one she should fear. Suddenly Majesty pulled the ruler across Ms Williams's throat. As the blood trickled down, I had a sudden hankering for strawberry milk. I stared at Ms. Williams's lifeless body on the floor, I glanced back at Majesty and she smiled, looked at me and said "I'll be right back!" Majesty went and sat the ruler on another teacher's desk; she returned and simply said "We need to go home!"
