He came by again today. The mysterious man. Papa says I will go live with this man when I turn fifteen. I don't understand why I must but Papa says it is for the best. He says that once I am there I will understand. But I am scared. Does this mean Papa cannot bear to see me anymore? Do I remind him of Mamma so much? Papa always tells me that he loves the fact that I remind him so much of Mamma. He says it's almost like she is living here with him still. But I still wonder, sometimes I will catch him looking at her painting with a look that can only be described as a pain-filled death. He looked so defeated like life didn't hold any appeal anymore. It hurts to think that I might be contributing to his hidden defeat. I want to approach him about it but alas, it would help no one for me to do such a thing. Therefore, I accept defeat and turn away. Waiting for the day when I no longer see his pain-ridden face.
