Daddy Save Me ~ Aaron Hotchner

Being the child of an FBI agent who works for the BAU could be tough. The constant feeling of loneliness and the stress of not knowing if your dad was okay could get too much sometimes. Your dad Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner was rarely home, he was always away on cases, and when he got back he was too exhausted to do much, so when he missed your daddy-daughter night for the third time in a row you had the right to be fuming. 

After an hour had passed since he should have been home you tried to convince yourself that he would be back soon, but then another hour had passed, and then another, and by the time four hours had passed you gave up. You made your way over to the sofa not caring if the new dress you brought would crease or that your make-up could get smudged and laid down. 

You didn't realise you were crying until you felt something wet fall onto your hand. You quickly wiped away the tears from your face, refusing to appear weak. A few more tears fell and you gave up on trying to be strong and let them fall freely. Tired from waiting up you slowly drifted off on the sofa oblivious to the sound of the door opening.

This was how Aaron saw you, laying on the sofa, mascara down your face paired with dried tears. His heart broke. How could he do this to you again, he didn't mean to, work was  hard and after a tough case which took longer to solve than he thought he couldn't get home quick enough. 

Slowly making his way over to you he gently picked you up and brought you up to your room. He placed you down and proceeded to give you a kiss on the head. He walked over to the small chair in the corner of you room and sat down.

Letting out a sigh he began. "(Y/N), I know there are no excuses for missing tonight, but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry, I'm sorry for leaving you alone, I'm sorry for not being able to attend every parents evening, not being home to attend your awards evenings. But I'm trying so hard to be a good father, ever since your mum died all I have wanted is to protect you from the monsters I see daily. Your too precious and I don't want my nightmares to become yours. It is so hard to leave you all the time, my heart breaks every time I see your sad face as I'm walking out the door. You are so brave and beautiful and you deserve so much better, I'm so sorry, I love you". The tears were flowing freely from his eyes now, but he didn't expect you to hear him.

"I love you too dad, its not your fault, I know your only trying to protect me". Slowly you got up and made your way over to your dad engulfing him in a big hug.

Yes he may be busy most of the time, but he was still the best father ever.
