 Chloe's P.O.V

"Remember, take deep breaths when you're nervous" My mom told me like she always does "It's the key to success" She added like always as well "Deep breaths" I repeat and take one at that moment with my eyes closed, I open my eyes again and look at the time "I've got to get going" I say and hug my mom tightly then move on to hug my dad "Don't let anything scare you and keep in touch" He says and I nod at him before moving on to my 12 year old brother, Conner. I hug him and he acts as if he doesn't like it but hugs me back anyways "Stay out of trouble" I tell him before pulling away and he nods a little "The next time I'll see you will most likely be Thanksgiving, so I love you all!" I say before walking around my car and getting in, I start the car and glance back in the rear view mirror quickly to take one last look at them before turning left and making my way to Long Beach College in California two states away, the GPS says it'll take me around 18 hours to get there so I'm leaving my house three days before classes start. I reason I choose to drive instead of fly here was because I was moving and didn't really trust my things with some strangers, I also needed my car and this way was also cheaper, for gas, food, and other things I'd need on the road, I was using the money I got from my graduation party.

A few hours later I take a break to eat then get on the road again and after a few more hours I stop at a park and ride to sleep for the night. In the morning I find a gym that I'm able to take a shower at then go to Denny's for breakfast "You're a new face, did you just move here?" The old waitress asks and she pours me some coffee "No, just passing through on my way to college" I tell her and add some cream to my coffee "Ohh, what college?" She asks "Long Beach in California, I'm going for a marine biology major" I explain and stir my coffee while adding sugar "That's exciting" She says and I just nod "I'll be back in a moment to take your order" I nod once more and she walks away. After I pay I get back in my car and start my long drive once more. I get to campus around 3 in the afternoon and make my way to the student information building to find out where my dorm is, I get the key and am told I'm able to move in today since classes start tomorrow. It takes me forever  to take everything from my car to my dorm on the third floor that has no elevator, it would have been much faster if it did because I didn't bring much with me.

The dorm has two single beds with drawers along the bottom across from each other towards the back of the room with a window in between them, and two desks on each side of the door when you came in, it was a small room so my roommate and I had to get comfortable with each other and quick. I unpack and re folded my clothes then places them in the drawers that lined the bottom of the beds as I decided to take the one of the left when you walked in the door, I also unpacked the two other pairs of shoes and placed them in the draws as well then started to unpack things that would go on my desk. Not much went on my desk, just a pen holder with pens and pencils in it, some loose leaf paper, a few book, my text books, and on the back of my chair I hung my backpack, on the desk I also placed a small dolphin statue my parents gave me when I was younger. In the drawers of the desk I put markers, rubber bands, erasers, and my bag of bathroom items and make up, and to the right of the desk I hung up a cork board with a little holder in the corner for thumb tacks on it.

I sighed and looked back at everything I got done before breaking down the boxes I brought my things in and took them back down to my car along with the one suitcase I brought. I remember to grab my laptop out of the car and take it to my room as well. I set my laptop on my desk and am about to collapse on my bed when I notice that I don't have any sheets or blankets or pillows on it yet 'Oh yeah, I was supposed to buy some' I think to myself, I hide my laptop under some clothes in one of the draws under my bed before grabbing my car keys, dorm key, wallet, and phone and leaving to go buy some bedding and getting something to eat. After I get pizza I go out and buy my bedding which I decide to just get a plain, dark blue bed set which comes with dark blue sheets, a dark blue blanket, and two dark blue pillow cases, seeing the pillow cases remind me that I also have to buy pillows so I quickly grab two medium pillows and head to check out. As soon as I get back to my dorm I make my bed then grab my bathroom things and go to the bathroom to shower, only a few girls have moved into the dorm so there were only two others taking showers when I went in. I take my shower in peace then head back to my dorm and change into baggy pajama pants that had a checkered pattern on them and a baggy t-shirt with a bralette under.
