The cold wind sliced right through my black leggings as I ran through the snow, the white flakes falling into my hair and sticking to my eyelashes. The red glow from the neon sign reading "Newtown Pub" glowed against my skin as I pushing open the glass doors under them.
The smell of beer and sweat hit my nostrils as I took a deep breath of the warm air, shivering. Loud music was being played by a live band in the far corner, some cover of a popular song, probably a request from the audience. A few people danced, but most sat with their drinks or friends quietly. It was a slow night.
Walking over to the bar, I pull myself up onto one of the wooden stools. I lean my elbows on top of the counter and snap my fingers for the bartender. He turns around and looks at me for a moment before smiling. "What'll it be tonight Ava?"
I smile back as he walks towards me, wiping a glass clean. "Just a glass of your best beer is fine. I'm not much in the classy mood today."
He nods and turns with a small hop in his step to fill the glass he was just cleaning to the brim with a clean beer, the white foam thick on the top. It was gorgeous and golden brown, exactly like it is in movies and adds. The thing people don't know is that sometimes the best beer is in these small town pubs. I still haven't found a better bar than this one here.
He sets the beer on the bar counter in front of me with another smile before leaning forward onto the counter. "Waiting for anyone tonight?" I shake my head as I take a sip. "Nah, I'm heading to this one dudes place in a couple hours though. Says I did a friend of his a while back, pretty sure he's talking about pencil dick too." I laugh and he chuckles along with me.
"You know who I'm talking about Larry?" He nods and pushes his body off the counter and leans on his side. "That buff looking red head right?" I smirk and nod before taking another drink of beer. "That's the one. This guys more attractive though, but that never means anything. He says he's good though, and that's all I care about, you know?"
Larry's face falls slightly as he stares at my hand around the now half empty glass of beer. "What time you gotta leave again?" I glance at the clock on the wall behind the bar. "About an hour. He lives in Paraheights, some rich kid most likely. It'll take me an hour to get there, and I still have to get ready and such."
Larry nods, running a hand through his slicked back black hair, closing his eyes with a sigh.
"I get off in 30 minutes. Mind if I take you to dinner?" I shrug. "I don't turn down free food." He watches me as I finish off the beer and set it on the counter with a soft tap. "I wish you didn't do this shit to yourself..." He mumbles before walking to greet a new customer walking towards the bar.

I pulled up my red tank top, glaring at a middle-aged man who couldn't seem to drag his eyes away from my chest. Larry walked behind me through the restaurant as I followed our waitress before she pointed us to the booth next to her.
I smiled at her, letting my eyes drag up her body a little before meeting her eyes and sitting down. "Hi, my names Lisa and I'll be serving y'all today. What can I get you two to drink?" Her perkiness made me laugh a little, knowing it was an act as I had served as a waitress all last year.
"I'll take a Coke, thanks." Larry smiled at her. "Same here." She nodded, her brown curls bouncing a little as she walked away, her butt popping side to side in her oh-so-tight-khaki jeans.
Opening the menu I pulled a stray strand of my hair behind my ear. "Any idea what to get? I've never been here." Larry gawks at me in slight disgust. "You've never been to His and Her's BBQ?!" I laugh. "No, is it popular?"
