Regular show: Mordecai adventures

Benson and Rigby

It was a normal day at the park. Mordecai and Rigby were raking leaves as usual very quietly until Mordecai decides to open his mouth and speak. "So, I see you're getting along with Benson quite well, it's funny really, you guys are the complete opposites yet you can get along so well." Rigby looks up at Mordecai with an angry look on his face and says "what?! no dude! we hate each other!" Mordecai now looks perplexed for a moment ten opens his mouth and asks "did something happen when you a Benson had to write that letter of resignation? I mean I'm relieved that none of you got fired because if you went out, I'd have t go out with you but ever since then, you guys have been more... friendly."

But what no one did know was that Mordecai had always wanted out of the park and to do something with his life but Rigby was always holding him back. He enjoyed working for the park but he lay awake at night thinking about it. Is this really what I'm doing with my life, am I going to have to work at the park forever? It started out as just a way to move out from their parents but now they've been working there for years and it's making Mordecai worry because he has the potential of so much greater but he has to stay lame because of his stupid friend. Of course he always liked Rigby, he was amazing! A good friend who really cares about him. Actually it was more recently that Rigby started caring about him. It used to be that Rigby was a terrible friend and only wanted bro time but he's really matured.

Not long after: Benson was headed in their direction. "Speak of the devil." Mordecai said as Benson stopped right in front of them. "Look Benson, we're working, don't need to go all ballistic on us" Rigby proclaimed in a sassy and annoyed voice. "Actually, no. I came to congratulate you on working so hard lately, you're really improving, I haven't had to yell at you in 3 days straight and that deserves a reward." Benson said enthusiastically. "REWARD?!" Mordecai and Rigby both said at the same time questioningly and excitedly. "Yes, you guys have worked so hard, you deserve a reward so I'm taking you to the new beef 'em up place down town, my treat." Benson said with a big smile on his face which you don't see on him very often. "Isn't that the very fatty place where they cook everything with lots of grease and they deep fry everything?" Mordecai questioned. Rigby looked up at him and said with an annoyed and sarcastic voice "yeah, that's why they called it "beef 'em up" Dufus!" Mordecai thought for a bit and said "I think I'll pass but you two, have fun." " Ok, dude, suit yourself but you're missing out." Rigby said as he walked away with Benson.

After he finished his work: Mordecai walked home and dropped down on the couch exhausted, feeling mad at Rigby for ditching him and leaving him to do all the work. But then he realised: since Rigby wasn't there, he could play any video game he wanted so he ran upstairs to get his call of duty game. He couldn't play this with Rigby because he gets scared so he always had to stick with the childish stuff that he liked like "strong johns", "broken bones", "zombie returns" etc... Mordecai always liked different things than Rigby and what everyone failed to realise is that Mordecai and Rigby are two different people and they don't have to agree on everything. Everyone saw them as such great friends because they did but really: it was all an act, Mordecai had a completely different personality than Rigby and had different interests and talents but could never let them out because he had to follow the exact footsteps of Rigby. So as Mordecai played his video game that night, he was completely oblivious to the life changing events that where going on at that very time.

The next morning seemed like any other morning. Mordecai got up: did his usual routine before work then headed to the staff meeting as all the park workers do every morning. Rigby and Benson seems more friendly than usual and when Benson assigned Mordecai and Rigby to pick up the trash, Mordecai was all ready to start complaining but Rigby wasn't which came as a huge surprise to him so he kept his mouth shut. When they got to work: things got weirder. Rigby wouldn't talk to him, he'd just keep quiet and every time Mordecai tried to break the silence Rigby would completely shut him out and ignore what he was saying and replied to everything with an "uhu." Which made Mordecai feel really uncomfortable. But when Benson came around, Rigby would act all friendly like and cool. They even made up their own hand shake they did every time they met. Mordecai and Rigby would never do anything together any more and they split apart more and more everyday. This went on for over 2 weeks. Every time Benson came around, Mordecai would get super sad and wonder what he ever did wrong.

But one day when they were out cutting hedges by the park gates silently till Benson came along and the usual wave of sadness and jealousy came along, he decided that he'd had enough and should just move on. So when Rigby wasn't watching because he was laughing extremely loud at a joke Benson had told. Mordecai had spotted 2 guys talking right outside the park gate. He stared at them for a moment, then looked back at Rigby and Benson still laughing for a moment, then back at the guys who had now both made eye contact with Mordecai from a distance. Mordecai took a deep breath and started walking up to them, as he got closer, he got really nervous but tried not to show it because he wasn't really the type to be outward about his feelings. When he got up to them, he said "hey" very dimly. The 2 guys said "hey" back in the same manner. The 2 guys looked at each other as a side glance and then nodded at each other. Then one of the guys asked "you wanna hang with us?" On the inside: Mordecai got really excited and busted with joy but on the outside he just gave a dim "sure."

As the 3 guys were about to walk out, Mordecai looked back at Rigby who was still laughing and stopped for a second. And they both gave each other a very sad but assertive look. Both knowing that this was the end. That one second glance seemed to last an eternity to them. In both of their heads: at the exact same time their whole friendship flashed before their eyes and the both gave each other a nod and a wave. Once the moment was over: Benson finally stopped laughing and Rigby turned back to Benson to continue their conversation. At the same time the 1 of the 2 friends asked Mordecai "what are you look at?" and Mordecai then shook himself out of the moment and said "nothing" and continued walking along.
