Chapter seventeen : evil lurks

Starshine opened her eyes and looked around . Her vision was blurry but she could make out the shape of a cat lying a fox length infront of her.

When her vision cleared she was shocked to find out who it was . "Redclaw !" She hissed . The shecats head flew up as she heard Starshines voice .

"Your awake ."the red cat said sarcastically . Starshine tried to stand but her legs buckled and she fell with a thump .

Redclaw stared at her in pleasure . " what are you gonna do now ?" She hissed rising to her paws . The shecat leapt at Starshine landing on her side with such force it left Starshine gasping for air .

Redclaw dug her claws into Starshines side hissing."this is for Goldfeather !" Suddenly she was knocked off of Starshine .

Writhing in pain Starshine managed to look up . Printfur had Redclaw pinned to the ground hissing at her .

Relief flooded through Starshine .

'I'm safe ' she thought . "She can't die ........ Yet ." He hissed at Redclaw then he turned his gaze toward Starshine .

Dread once again filled her as she saw the evil in his eyes . She shuddered at the thought that she was practically defenseless against the horrors of their claws .

The thorn barrier they had created Rattled as another cat stepped in . It was no surprise to see the cat who stepped out .

"I see your feeling fine ." Hissed the cat showing his teeth . Hissing Starshine looked at him ."No thanks to you , Takedawn !"

He padded over to her and leaned toward her ear . "Soon you will be but a memory that will be forgotten !" He hissed .

She craned her neck swiftly and bit down on his forepaw until his screeching was so loud she thought it could be heard at Calmclan .

He jerked his paw away from her teeth blood gushing out of where she had bitten . He looked down at it and seemed shocked .

Looking up in fury he said. "Printfur , Redclaw , hold her down!"Immediately they leapt on Starshine pushing her against the ground .

Starshine struggled to move under the massive weight , but it was no use . She hadn't ate for a day , and her muscles were stiff from laying still so long.

Takedawn limped over to her and bent down to whisper in her

ear ."you will be punished !"
