I rolled over in bed and noticed the small stream of light that drifted in through my window. It was four thirty in the morning and the sun was just beginning to rise. For the past few days I've been waking up at the same time well before my alarm, although I wasn't sure why. With a sigh I threw back the covers and got up. There wasn't any use trying to go back to sleep so I decided to get up and get ready for my day.
I took a shower first to help me fully wake up. Taking my time with my daily morning routine. I usually didn't wear makeup unless it was a special occasion. I didn't like to draw to much attention to myself. I left my face fresh and clean of any makeup and my long dark hair hung loose down my back. I dresses into a cream colored blouse that tucked into a long black pencil skirt. I added a pair of black kitten heels to finish off my look.
After I cooked and ate breakfast I had a bit of time before work since I got up earlier then planed, so I decided to clean up a little. While I made sure to keep the outside of my house tidy and we'll taking care of the inside sometimes was a mess. My tiny two story, two bedroom, one bath home was a bit cluttered and messy.
My mornings were like my days quiet and if I was being honest with myself a bit lonely. I mostly kept to myself except for a few friends. It was just safer that way for everyone. Having any type of social life was a rule I had broke and while at times I feel bad about braking it being completely alone has worn down my resolve. I figured if I was extra careful and kept my friends to a minimum it would be fine. Not having any interaction with anyone would just as easily draw attention to me as well.
I headed out to go to work and as I locked up my house I could hear my neighbor doing the same. I tried to quickly make it to my tiny black car before he noticed me. "Good morning Raven." My neighbors deep rough voice rang out just as I was reaching for my cars door handle. With a deep breath I looked up at him. He was now standing at his car that was in his driveway right beside mine. "Good morning Adam." I said in a small polite voice.
I couldn't help the small smile from forming on my face. Adam Shaw was a very handsome man. He was a tall man who stood over six feet with broad shoulders. He had short dark hair that was cut military style, dark brown eyes and the most charming smile I have ever seen a man wear. He was all around a nice man. From what I could tell he was every bit a gentleman and everything I needed to stay away from.
Adam Shaw was a wearwolf and not just any wearwolf but the alpha of the dark night pack. Of course he didn't know that I knew what he really was. I needed to stay hidden and getting to involved in anyway with wearwolves or anyone alike other then human wouldn't be very smart of me. So I bid him good day and climbed into my car as quickly as I could without offending him. The whole way to work I thought how things would be different if I didn't need to hide.
Coming to my little Shop always put me in a good mood. I owned a small book store and I loved it. It was a place I didn't have to try so hard to hid who or what I was seeing as more times then not it was humans who came to my shop. It was quite and safe just the way I preferred it. After getting everything all set up and ready for the day I began to read the current romance novel I had been reading.
It seemed to be the only way I was going to get a taste of passion and romance. I hadn't had a date in a few years. Let's just say my last one went pretty horrible. I had to shake my head to rid my mind of the awful memories. A loud noise had startled me that sounded to of came from the back of the store. Going to check it out I spotted Mrs. Dally who had knocked a book off of a shelf.
Without a word to her I walk over a picked it up placing it back on to the shelf. Mrs. Dally was the elderly woman I bought the book store from six years ago. Shortly after she had passed away. Yes Mrs. Willow Dally was a ghost. She still lingered about doing things that she would do from day to day. It depended on the circumstances but sometimes a person who had passed on would stay here amongst us.
Most of the time it was due to some sort of unfinished business. I wasn't really sure what it was that kept Mrs. Dally here, but no matter how much I wanted to I could not interfere. Hearing the bell above the door chime I walked back to the front of the shop to greet a customer. "Good morning and welcome to The weeping willow." I said with a bright smile. In walked Charles Willson. An often recurring customer. Though I wasn't sure the books are the only reason he keeps coming back.
"Why good morning to you too Raven. You're looking lovely this morning." He greeted me with a smile. Charlie was a handsome man. He was on the taller side standing at five foot eleven with broad shoulders and a lean but fit body. You could make out the muscles beneath his snug red shirt and his blue jeans hugged his lower half just right. He had shaggy light brown hair, blue eyes and a smile that just made you feel like he was a trustworthy man. He definitely was a man I could see myself interested in if I was in a position to date.
"Oh Charlie you're always so sweet. Thank you." It was true he was always swwet to me paying me compliments. While it always made me smile and feel beautiful it also made me sad. I couldn't act on any feeling that could potentially be there. Charlie is human and humans are weak and they Parish much to easily. With those thoughts I halted any flirting and offered to help him find a book. Books, yes book are safe.
