The Adventure

Once upon a time, there was a turtle named Jack who lived in Ireland, on a nice grassy land area and was very happy there. One day Jack was resting when another turtle approached him. Jack said "Hi." And waited for a reply but the turtle did not answer. After several minutes the turtle replied with a simple "Hi." Jack introduced himself and then asked "What is your name?" The other turtle answered and said, "My name is Mark." Jack asked Mark where he used to live before he came to Ireland. Mark said, "I used to live in Ohio ." Jack said "Cool, I've always wanted to go to Ohio!" Jack and Mark talked and talked and soon it was very late and Mark had to spend the night at Jack's. Jack and Mark became best friends and did everything together. One sunny day Mark and Jack decided to go on an adventure. "Mark, we should go to that scary cave where nobody lives." Jack said excitedly. "I don't know Jack......" Replied Mark shakily. "C'mon it will be fun Mark." Jack insisted. "Okay, but we have to be careful." Mark said with a sigh. Mark and Jack had left after getting a couple of things Mark wanted: flashlights, food, water, and warm cloths. "Do we really need all this stuff, Mark?" Jack complained. "Yes, all this stuff is very important Jack. Oh, can you get the medical kit please?" Mark asked. "For what?" Jack asked impatiently. "We need it just in case one of us gets hurt." Mark explained. Now that Mark and Jack had everything they needed they left for their journey to the cave. Once they reached the cave Mark had taken out a flashlight he had brought. "Well let's go Mark ." Jack said excitedly. "O...Okay" Mark said worriedly while shining the flashlight in all directions. "Mark, don't be so scared, you will be fine." Jack said bravely. They had entered the cave and saw baby bats clinging to the walls, and lots of stalactites hanging from the ceiling, and stalagmites piercing up from the ground. Mark started to calm down and look at the beauty the cave held: shining rocks here and there, tiny critters crawling creepily up walls and across the floor. Mark slowly admired every single thing he saw while Jack rushed to see what is at the end of the cave. "Mark quit being so slow!" Jack yelled eagerly at Mark. "Jack, I'm just looking around, I'll catch up soon." Mark said rather calmly back to Jack. Jack decided to go on without Mark and see what hid beyond the cave. Jack practically ran in the dark to get to the end of the cave, but underneath him started to get slippery and he started falling. He fell into a pool of blue glowing water. He swam to shore and started calling for Mark. "MARK! MARK, HURRY UP I FOUND SOMTHING YOU MIGHT LIKE!" Jack kept shouting up the cliff of blue sparkling water. Mark finally heard Jack yelling and rushed off to see what he had gotten into. "Don't worry Jack, i'm coming." Mark said heroically rushing to where Jack had run off. Mark had reached the slippery part and fell into the pool of blue. "Where are we?" Mark questioned. "I don't know but it's beautiful." Jack said dreamily. Mark and Jack started wandering around glancing at the sparkling blue water every now and then. After a while of searching around the small pond of blue they watched it for a little bit. After about five minutes the water started to ripple. After a couple more minutes there was more rippling in the water. "I wanna go see what's at the bottom." Jack said breaking the silence. "No, you don't know what's down there, Jack." Mark said sounding fatherly. "Of course I don't, that's why i'm going to figure out." Jack said with a splash soon behind. Mark just rolled his eyes and watched the water waiting for Jack. Minutes passed and Mark started to get worried. After a half hour Jack jumped out of the water. "Mark you have to see this, there is another cave under the water with sparkly emeralds, shiny diamonds, and lots of amethyst." Jack exclaimed. "Really? I have to see this, lead the way, Jack." Mark said anxiously. The two turtles jumped into the water and swam about 7 feet under the water before finding the cave. They reached the cave gasping for air, then Mark started to admire, once again, the beauty. "We should take some of this home Jack." Mark said greedily. "I don't know Mark. I mean we could just take two of each for both of us." Jack offered. "Yes, that sounds good but why not more Jack?" Mark questioned. "What if taking too much would harm the cave Mark! Only two of each okay?!" Jack said angrily. Mark agreed then they swam back up to where they fell. "Mark, how we going to get back up the cliff." Jack said while looking up the cliff. "We, uh, Climb it." Mark replied while trying to climb the cliff. Jack decided to look around and soon enough he found a ladder up and climbed up. "Hey Mark there is a ladder right here that you can climb." Jack said smirking. "What? Oh I knew that." Mark said dumbly. Mark climbed up the ladder and started to walk out of the cave with Jack. "Are we going to keep the cave a secret, Mark?" Jack said looking up from his emerald. "Yes, I mean what choice do we have? We could tell the world and all the jewels would be taken or we keep it a secret and the blue pool can be safe." Mark said rather smartly. "Yeah okay." Jack said. Mark and Jack walked home and Jack put his jewels on a shelf while Mark put his in a glass trophy case. "Really, Mark, they are not trophies." Jack said rudely. "Of course they are not, dummy. But they are my trophies in my mind." Mark answered calmly. "Yeah, okay." Jack said and walked away. Mark and Jack went to the cave every so often to swim in the pool and admire the beauty. But never could they figure out why the pool was blue, but in the fall and winter it would turn purple and in the spring it was green, and summer was always blue. Jack came to the conclusion saying the the jewels were the reason of the waters colors but Mark would always disagree and enjoy swimming in the colors. Years went by and Mark and Jack still kept their wonderful cave a secret.
