I took off my shoes and walked into the grass. It felt so... So freeing. To remove a part of me that connects me to society and to take a walk into the inviting fields of grass that laid before me. Each step into the cool grass and powdery earth was its own combination of sensations. Underneath my feet, I felt flowers and dirt and the never-ending grass that makes this world so beautiful. And in my hands, I could feel the gentle touch of a nurturing wind flowing through my fingers. It ever-so-delicately played with my care-free hair swaying with the trees in the breeze. In the far distance, I could hear the disruptive hum of cars passing by and I could see the street lights casting an ugly yellow glow on brick houses and uncomfortable sidewalks. But I turned my back to it and enjoyed the earth. I had withdrawn into my senses and let them tell me a story of a connection to the world all around me. That's why I had to leave tonight. Not to rebel, but to remember the good things in this ugly yet beautiful world that keep my feet moving forward.
