Realyn's POV
I looked out the window pressing my elbows against the windowsill with my hands prompted against my face. I watched the rain thrash harshly out side. The frail branches of the trees were blown in every direction. All of a sudden I heard the door bell ring. "Get that Realyn." I could hear my foster mom yell from the kitchen I sighed sulking to the door. I'm 16 years old and my life is boring I always ask everyone don't you want more out of life? They think I'm crazy and say I read to many novels. I turn the lock on the door and push it open. There stands a woman she seemed to be in her mid twenties she had red hair and green eyes. That was all I could see the rest of her was covered by a soaking wet brown cloak. "Do I know you?" I ask.
"No, I am here to deliver a message to you Realyn..I"
"How do you know my name?" I interrupt her. I ready my hand into my pocket I felt the small pocket knife. It wouldn't do much but if she decided to try anything funny I was prepared.
"I was told your name and to give you this." She pulls a cream crinkled envelope out from her cloak.
I stare down at it confused as she held it out to me.
"Well are you going to just stare at it? Take the letter!" She stares at me in amusement.
"Sorry" I say staring at the envelope as I snatched it from her. All of a sudden I heard a yell from the kitchen, "Realyn! Come and help me clean this up!" I glance towards the kitchen,"Coming!" I look back and the woman is gone. She completely disappeared. I fold the envelope and stick it in my jean pocket so it wasn't noticeable. I shut the door and dash into the kitchen.
As I enter I see my foster mother with her hand on her face her eyes are closed. She does this whenever she is angry. A few plates lay on the floor glass pieces sprawled everywhere. Those were her favorite plates! "Oh my I'm so sorry!" She shakes her head "Don't apologize it's fine I still have two left." She smiles a forced smile. I smile a fake smile back and walk over to the closet to find the broom.
I helped her clean up the broken plates by sweeping them into a pile as she scooped them up and put them in the trash. "Thank you Realyn." She says washing her hands, "I should start making dinner" I smile, "I'm in my room if you need me" I say as I walk out of the kitchen and down the hall to my bedroom. When I'm inside I lock the door and flop on my sky blue comforter. I glance around my room. The walls are a pale white the room is plain with a white closet door a white dresser with clothes. A wooden white bed. And a white bedside table. It was so plain because I owned no valuables to put anywhere. Being passed from family to family I can't exactly travel heavy. The only valuables I own is my leather back pack, a small heart necklace from my parents and a small white square picture frame on my bedside table with a picture of my parents in it. My real parents not my foster parents. I never met my real parents I was in foster care ever since I can remember. I stick my hand in my jean pocket as I stand up. I slowly pull out the envelope on the front side there is my name Realyn it reads. I sit on the edge of my bed and open it carefully not to tear anything.
Inside there is a folded paper an old looking paper. I unfold it to read,
Realyn whatever you may think, you are destined for greatness. You must for fill your destiny. Go to the pine park near your home there you will find a stand with a man at it go up to him tell him your name and show him your necklace he will give you information and everything you need to find our village. ~Helena
I narrowed my eyes no way this is crazy! This is real life not a book I tell myself I hid the letter in my backpack in with it I put my picture of my family I clutched the necklace around my neck how did someone know about this? I pondered the thought for a moment and decided I would tell my foster mother. I needed to try my whole life I've been waiting for excitement and now here it is!
