Lani slammed her fists down onto her desktop, staring contently at her computer screen while watching the number of her subscribers hoping for it to raise. The number moved and she gasped but then cried, the number had dropped instead of what she had hoped. Lani shut off her computer and crawled upstairs towards her bed, flopping down and letting out a grunt of frustration. "Lani! Dinner will be ready soon!" Her mother yelled up to her. "I'm not hungry..." Lani lied, not wanting to show her face of shame to her family. "Are you sure?" Her mother asked in a worried voice. "Positive!"She snapped.
Lani awoke on her bed at 4:08 AM at night. "Seems like I fell asleep." Lani grumbled before expressing a yawn. She snatched her phone off the table and turned it on, tapping the texting app before starting to text a long paragraph to her best friend Carmon. She hit send and waited for her to reply. Lani ended up waiting a half an hour before she realized that she wasn't going to respond this late at night. She tossed her phone back onto her nightstand and tried to fall asleep, but couldn't. All she could think about was her YouTube account, wondering if her few 19 subscribers were missing her. With the topic on her mind, Lani fell asleep and dreamed of her YouTube succeeding.
She awoke to her phone buzzing loudly at 11:05 AM. She picked up her phone and hit the accept button to the call. "Lani! Stop sending me those huge rants about your YouTube account at night! Look, I know you really want to be successful and all with your account... But Lani! Agh! This has gone way to far! Your practically killing yourself with this! I'm not continuing these petty arguments with you anymore about your YouTube! ..... Talk to me when you get your senses back." Carmon yelled threw the phone before hanging up quickly not letting Lani reply. With tears in her eyes she set her phone down harshly on the nightstand and buried her face in her bed. "I want my life back!" Lani screamed in her bed, but it was muffled by how buried her face was.
Lani stopped crying and wiped the rest of the tears off her face and went downstairs, heading towards her kitchen. "Mom, can I go to the park? I-I'll stay safe I promise." Lani muttered. Her mother sighed and frantically looked over her daughter before planting a kiss on her forehead, "I know you will." She breathed and gave Lani some money and a small purse to put it in. Lani muttered a thank you and put on her shoes, before heading towards the exit of the house and slipping threw, listening to the door slam shut behind her. Lani ran towards the garage and entered the combination, as the door opened she darted in and grabbed her bike. She got on and drove towards the lock and hit 'close' and then she took of, riding towards the park on the sidewalk.
She arrived at the park and looked at the beautiful fountain. Lani parked her bicycle and jogged towards the fountain, she opened the small purse her mom gave her and plucked out a quarter before inspecting it to make sure it was nice and shiny. "You seem like a lucky one.." She sighed and tossed the coin into the fountain and silently wishing "I wish that my YouTube account would become successful and get millions or even thousands of subscribers!" She whispered with her eyes closed. Lani opened her eyes and sighed, sadness filling up inside her. She closed her small purse and headed over towards an ice cream truck. She looked threw the choices and handed the worker two dollars and fifty cents. "I'll have a two scoop, one scoop of Blue Moon, and one scoop of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, please." Lani sighed and waited for the man to hand her her icecream. "Thanks..." Lani mumbled as the man handed her her icecream.
She walked over towards the park bench and sat down, eating her icecream quietly. "What do people like to watch..? Hmm... What do they like to play?" She muttered to herself before catching the eyes of an 18 year old staring at her. "Uhh....." Lani whispered and quickly tried to scoff down her icecream, wanting to get out of the park. Suddenly the girl staring at her burst out into laughter. "Slow down, scoffing down your icecream is only going to get it all over you, Here." The teen said before walking over towards her and handing her a napkin. "T-Thanks.....?" Lani said through gritted teeth, scared.
"Don't be scared, I'm no killer! And I overheard you talking to yourself. Why do you want to know what people like and watch? Because I think that I can help you." The teen said, "I'm Abigail, by the way." Abigail said. Lani paused for a moment before smiling, "Nice to meet you, I'm Lani." Lani responded before finishing off her icecream. "Anyways... I need to know this stuff because I'm a YouTuber, and its been a huge dream of mine to be successful and-" Lani rambled before being cut off, "Minecraft. Try playing that and recording it, everyone loves Minecraft. Also maybe try talking more in your videos, record funny things too. But when you talk, try not to talk about your boring personal life, try talking about what your actually doing in the video, but you can ocasically talk about your personal life. Also people love to hear about what you'll be recording next and what your trying to do with your account right now." Abigail explained. "Wow! That's really helpful! Thanks!" Lani breathed, clearly fascinated at how much she had been missing out on in her videos. "Hey, no problem, I'm always welcome to help." Abigail grinned.
Lani returned at her house with her bike and locked it away in her garage before racing into her house. "Mom! You have got to get me Minecraft! My new friend Abigail told me all about it! It would help my videos really-!" Her mom cut her off, "Wait, who's Abigail? But of course I'll get you Minecraft if it will make you happy." Her mother retorted. Lani started to sweat "Uhh...Umm.." Not knowing how to respond to her question that she actually talked to a complete stranger, not even knowing if she was safe to be around with either.
