Kankri Vantas was... Different. Oh, different doesn't even comprehend what he was. He was not mortal, though he could die from sickness like a mortal; he was what is known as a vampire. Kankri wasn't the biggest on calling himself that though, he personally wanted to be normal. At least his form of normal, if that's even possible in this strange world.
It was late evening, and the moon was on its course to becoming full. Kankri stood outside of his home, looming over everything in sight. The light seemed to shine upon him, and the moon glistened in the sky, and the stars and clouds alined it almost in a precise manner. It was gorgeous, but sadly, beauty like this was simply ephemeral most of the time. Kankri had seen a lot of things considered to be beautiful in his life though, so it didn't matter. He had a lot more time as well.
He leaned against the building, which was way older than him. Now, one may be asking, how old is Kankri Vantas? Well, he is exactly one hundred and twenty-three. He only went by twenty-three though. No one would really believe him if he gave out his real age, but some throngs are truly gullible enough to believe that.
After awhile, it seemed as if boredom began to grow on Kankri, and observing his surroundings was no longer entertainment to the vampire. He took one last look at one of the giant oaks before he ambled his way over to the front of the house. His home was fairly large, but he had seen larger in many of his years. But he had inherited this home from his father, whom later had told him that the house held great significance. Kankri swore that he would protect it for all he could.
Alas, he finally made his way inside the building, and sighed through his nose when he was welcomed with that same eery aroma he was so used to. Kankri was quite glad to be inside; the bitter cold of the outside world had seemed to be getting to him. Soon enough, with a snap of his fingers, Kankri was able to magically light most of the candles that were in his home. He had electricity, due to it being the twenty first century, but he enjoyed the way candles lit. They made the Victorian mansion seem dark, even though the lighting was dim. This way was also more efficient then having to go around and flip numerous switches. Ah, the perks of being a magical being.
Kankri made his way to his office, where most of his books and where he did research was. Still, little did Kankri know, was that he was going to have a visitor, and one that may make a slight turn on his life which he never would even imagine for it to happen. Well, who exactly was this visitor? His name was Cronus mother fucking Ampora.
