Aphrodite's Curse

Shy and pretty don't cut it.

"I may have broken up with you, but I loved you. please don't let me go." she whimpered over the phone. she felt she loved him, though she didn't know what love really was she tried to.

"I love you too... but I can't be with you, not right now. I know that if your determined then maybe, but I just can't right now..." he said and turned off the call.

She felt so much pain, she knew it was coming and she still couldn't bring herself to believe it. Sally curled up in a ball on her bed and cried. she truly loved him, but in her family she had never felt love.

She thought as she cried, anger, to sadness, to pain, and finally she was left empty. As the night finally over took her she thought to herself 'they're right, they're always right. I'll never be able to find real love...'

As she drifted off, she started to dream...

"Open your eyes little one. come on you can't be that heart broken, or well maybe you are I can't tell until we get down to business." a female voice spoke to her, making her eyes seem to flutter open.

"There's a good girl, come sit, we have some things we need to go over. let's just call them minor clauses to our future agreement." she said pointing at a simple metal bar stool with a vine like design.

Now that she saw the lady, she was gorgeous. hair a platinum blond with bluish black at the tips. A tight fitted black dress that made her green eyes stand out with how natural her makeup was. last but not least she wore black pearl earrings and a necklace shaped like a sea shell.

She was beautiful, what Sally imagined to be the picture of perfection. she had no idea what she was getting herself into. she slowly staggered to her feet, and walk over, sitting across from this model.

"Well now that you've made google eyes at me more that 10 times let's start. I am Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty. now i'm gonna give you a sec to let it sink in." she said taking a moment to give her nails a once over as Sally stared blankly at her in shock.

Several minutes later she looked back over and snapped her fingers. "yes blah blah blah, the Greek gods can't be real, well we are. An it's my mission to have your wish for real love come true. you see, I myself love ares, though I married Hephaestus to appease the lady Hera. since then I have made it my mission to give mortals a way to find real love. so I have a proposition."

Sally felt overwhelmed, slightly intimidated, and obviously scared. "M-m-me, but I'm sure that's impossible sure your not talking to the wrong mortal, I mean my friend kalie needs more help than me I'm sure." Sally smiled weakly, she had read a lot on Greek mythology and she wasn't keen on a deal with a goddess.

"Look, I may be blond, but I'm not stupid, any thought that has to do with love I hear so listen to my offer if you don't like it i'll leave you in your curled up ball, if you do though you'll shake and be refreshed in the morning, okay with you?" The goddess said getting impatient, she didn't want an irritated god on her either.

"Okay, let's, let's hear this deal." Sally said questioning her sanity.

"So it goes like this, you wanna find real love, so every time you seem to like a guy in that way, if he likes you back you will be able to hear his thoughts and intentions. The deal lasts till you are married to the perfect match. only downside is you will be able to hear and feel how they feel, so it can affect your judgement a bit. All in all it will lead you to your one true love. I mean I know who you're gonna be with, but this just makes it more exciting don't you think." she said sipping what looked like a martini with rose petals.

Sally was entranced by what she offered. It sounded good, but was it really. if there feelings could cloud her judgement as much as her own. she needed to think.

"Is there any way I could have time to think this over, you know to weigh pros and cons?" she asked awkwardly.

"I guess, but you only get 3 nights this is the first so that means 2 more got it. sweet dreams and I'm just saying, stop with the shy cute act, that doesn't cut it in love these days." The goddess said snapping her fingers and the dream slowly dissolved.

Sally woke with a start, her alarm was blaring and it was 10 minutes past when she needed to be up. lucky she planned ahead. she texted Drea and started getting ready for classes that day.

All the while she thought about her dream and the goddesses offer. would she choose to take the deal or not, she was unsure and needed to talk to her friends for a reasonable answer.

She slung her shoulder bag on and threw on some eyeliner and mascara. headed to Drea's house. All the while thinking, 'will I really find love?'
