The Disturbance

It all started one cold, misty night, the waves were crashing high over the harbour breakwall. The clouds were swirling around in the sky and the waves were whispering to me as if anticipating something.
Suddenly the sky erupted, the thunder sounding like pots and pans was so loud that I'm sure that it could be heard at least 100 miles away and bursting any persons eardrums within that radius. A stroke of lightning split the horizon into two.
Then it happened.........
