Maya awoke at midnight, hearing a loud crash from outside and a huge flash of light, her eyes fluttering open at the sound. She quietly got up her bed creaking slightly as she did so. Maya gently opened her door and without a sound quickly tip-toed out of her room. She crossed the hallway and down to the stairs, She stepped on the first stair and rushed downstairs. Tip-toeing through her living room and arriving in her kitchen, Maya glanced around and walked towards the door of her house, feeling her plants brush her night gown. She quickly slid open the door and slipped out. Maya watched it slide back into place before looking around her backyard. She ran to the gate of her backyard and entered the combination needed to exit. When she heard it beep and flash green she smiled and opened her gate before exiting to the backyard.

Maya looked around the side of her house, walking towards her driveway and then looked on in astonishment at something in the street, it was an odd looking gleaming blade. Though it looked dull and more like a knife, it most certainly was a blade. Maya reluctantly walked out into the street and picked it up. She turned the knife over in her hand and shrugged. Maya slipped it into her nightgown pocket, 'Heavy.' Maya said in her mind. 'heavy for a small dinky blade like that at least.'

Maya went back into her home and lugged herself up her stairs, sleep pulling her eyelids closed. She tried the best she could to keep them open, though. When Maya arrived back in her bedroom she took the blade out of her nightgown pocket, "looks a lot bigger, odd." She examined. Maya shrugged once more, it was hard to care with sleep weighing her down. She yawned loudly and dropped the blade on her nightstand and then planted herself once more into her bed. Maya yawned again and yanked the cover onto herself, and then in an instant she fell asleep, hoping nothing would wake her up again....
