The lights flashed outside his cold dark house, and he ran frantically across the living room, searching for a place to hide. He then settled under the couch, right as the front door came crashing down with a loud bang. He heard loud footsteps on the kitchen floor, and a loud, raspy voice yell, "I know you're in here."

With that, he gasped out loud, and he heard the footsteps come closer.

"Fuck.", he thought. "This is the end."

The steps got louder and louder; then stopped. The man was right in front of him, all he had to do was look under the old ugly green couch, and that would be the end of Calum.

His heart was beating faster than ever, and his breathing was getting louder. He could feel the man still standing there, and he knew there was no way he was making out of this alive. The man started to crouch down and Calum, for the first time in his life, prayed. The world spun a little faster for him and all he wanted was to be in a home that was safe, in a time long before now when he was young and innocent and had no idea his future self would be this giant mess.

But that's not where he was, he was under a couch, in his dark, and now slightly broken house, probably about to die, and he was terrified.

"Alright, Hood. I know you're down there. So you can show yourself now, or-"

The sudden thud of more feet on the floor made the man stop speaking.

"C'mon, we found him, he's not here. Let's go."

The man, however, wasn't stupid enough to just leave right then. He ducked his head under the couch only to see that Calum was no longer there. Surprised, he stood up and walked on of the house, following the other men.

This wasn't the first time something like this had happened to Calum, just the only time it had almost been the death of him. He knew how to get out of these places quickly, and by some miracle he managed to slide out from under the couch, crawling back to his room while the man was distracted with taunting him. He stayed there, hidden behind his bedroom door until he was certain the man, and all of his little helpers were gone.

After a solid 6 minutes, Calum stood up and walked out of his room to his front door. They were gone, finally. He was shaking and his heart was beating at the speed of light, but he had things to focus on. He had to get out.

He grabbed some clothes, his nearly empty wallet, and a leftover sandwich and slipped out (or over) the knocked down door. His truck was old and rusty and could barely start up anymore, but it would get him where he needed to go, and right now, that was all that mattered.

He was determined to make it out alive.
