In Greek mythology, humans used to have four arms, four legs, and a head with two faces. As the story goes, Zeus feared their power and cursed them-- forcing them to tear in half. For the rest of time, people wander the earth searching for the other half of their original form. Their soulmate.
In the fifteen years I've spent on this Earth, I have never seen any evidence of soul mates. I haven't yet found a couple that is happy together past the first months of marriage. I don't believe in the possibility of soulmates. People are too complex to have someone to fit with them perfectly. We're more complicated than puzzle pieces. Almost half of marriages today end in divorce and it feels like all I see around me is bickering couples. Some people say I'm a pessimist, but I think that I'm just being honest with myself.
I'm not saying I don't believe in love. I just don't think that there's such a thing as TRUE love. I know you're probably thinking that I'm just a brokenhearted, naive teen who got dumped and lost all faith in love, but that's not true. I'm gonna tell you my experiences with boys and good ol' puppy love.
