I watched them as they cried,
Weeping their bitter tears.
I, with the cold, unforgiving eyes.
I am the face of those who stood there motionless
As a mother was ripped away from her child,
As a father was forced to watch his family die.
I watched people losing their faith.
I stultified their hope,
Watching their souls slowly crumble
With nothing to assuage them.
I turned my back on million.
I ignored their pleas for mercy
When I shot their withered, forlorn bodies.
No eulogy was given.
I am the hunger in your stomach,
What made you kill your brother
For a moldy piece of stale bread.
Starvation knows no family.
I am the advertisement on the walls,
Which hypnotized the ignorant
With a false propaganda of glory.
I am necessity,
What made you turn a blind eye,
What made you delusional.
As long as you are comfortable.
I am the ignorance of man.
I am the hatred and prejudice it embodies.
I am your reflection in the mirror.
