Supportive Friends

Mat's pov

"Why don't we...nah, that'll never work". Everyone was stuck for ideas. The whole cast was attempting to write yonderland series three, but the whole "mind blank" thing really wasn't helping.
"Let's just have a scene with Mat and Martha on a romantic date". Jim gave me a sly look as he said those words.
"No"!
I have no idea why I'm so against that.
But..., a small part of his brain thought that sounded rather nice.
Automatically, I apologise, realising how strange the outburst was.
Jim and the others, apart from Martha, exchange knowing looks. I ignore them. They could be very immature sometimes.

Marthas pov

Why on earth would Jim say such a thing? There is nothing going on between Mat and me, it would be weird. Though It's not like he isn't cute, funny, amazing at everything...stop it! Why was she thinking such a thing?
"This is getting nowhere, do you guys want to go out for a drink?"
A chorus of yes' came back at me.

Mat's pov

"Hey Mat, can I talk to you for a sec?"
I allowed myself to be dragged out to the courtyard by Ben.
"How do you feel about Martha?"
I was going to say what I wpuld about any of the other idiots, but something stopped me. Maybe it was Ben's eyes telling me to be honest. Maybe it was my brain telling me to be honest. Whatever it was, suddenly I found myself blurting out those strangely frequent thoughts that go through my head when I look at her.
Ben looks smug. Then happy. Then smug once more.

Marthas pov

"You have to tell him how you feel, come on Martha!"
Jin is getting increasingly impaitent as I refuse to promise to ask him on a date.
Oh great, now Simon and Larry are supporting Jim.
There's only one way to get out of this whilst keeping my dignity.
"I'm going to the toilet."

Bens pov

"Guys guys guys guys guys guys guys!"Yeah, I'd had a lot to drink.
"Mat just told me how he really felt about Martha! He likes her!"
Really this was no surprise to the others. We'd all known about Mat's crush on Martha, even if he hadn't. So again, I was sort of expecting it when the others told me what Martha had said. Still, we needed a plan. We were going to help them get together.

Mats pov

"The sky ia beautiful
Nature is beautiful. Martha is beautiful."Wait, what! Where did that last thought come from?

Marthas pov

After reapplying some lippy, I go back to the table. Somehow the grouphad moved around so I had to sit next to Mat!
Oh I was going to kill the others, save one, later.
I sat down. Immediatly, Jim, Simon, Larry and Ben start up a conversation quitely. Every so often, one of them would look at us, then turn away quickly. Great. Ben told them. And if I know these guys, they'll be trying to get us together.

Marthas pov

Why, what supportive friends I have. All they were doing was talking about Mat and myself. And not things i particulary liked hearing them say.
"So, Marfy-moo-moo."Simon slurred.
"You have a thingy for Matty! And you guys are going to hook up, and have bubbas and kiss and do naughty things."
I looked over to see Mat blushing, but still staring at Simon like he was crazy. Which he was, like the rest of us.
Still, it was time to take him and the others home.
"Yeah,time to take you home. Actually, time to take all you drunk bastards home. I'm driving, because I have the biggest car, and I am sober."

Mats pov

It was just me and Martha now. I was suddenly terrified as she drove me home. What if I said something embarrasing? How would she treat me?
