"Your leaving?" Hadly asked as she rushed to me.
"Yup. I'm going to the compound."
"Ugh. I was denied 3 times! I want to go to the compound!" She whined.
The compound is...well....that! You cant describe the compound! It's impossible! Everyone wants to go but no one knows why. It's not exclusive or a private school, it just is. I hadnt even applied! I was just sent an acceptance letter.
"Compound girl!" Some guy yelled. I turned to find Tucker Johnasea walking towards me.
"Your my welcoming commitee?" I asked and he smiled.
"Nope, just your ride. Your parents have sent your stuff already. They will swing by tomorrow to get you settled in."
"Great. I'll call you tonight, Had." I said and followed Tucker to his shiny black jeep.
" wheres the beast?" I asked as I climbed in.
"Sadly Jeremiah hit a pole with her the other day so I made him stay behind and fix her." He said sounding sad.
"No one touches the jeep though?"
"Not right now. Someday though." He said with a dream like boice.
"Ok then, weirdo. So...the compound?" I asked.
"Well, my sister is trying to get her hands on you as a roommate but as of right now they have you pairef with another new girl, tiffanie ir something."
"Bad with names huh?" I teased knowing full well that he remembers faces not names.
"Which reminds me your name malory right?" He asked which caused me to pinch him on the shoulder and he laughed.
He turned into the compounds parking lot and pulled into a spot that had his last name on a name plate.
"Ready?" He asked as he shut the jeep off.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I replied and climbed out the jeep.
The Compound was beautiful, nothing like I thought it would be. It looked more like a mall than a school, the guarded front door was the only difference.
"So are they going to like steal my bag and look through it?" I asked as we neared the gaurds.
"Nope. Your purse on the other hand.."
"Your kidding right?"
"Name?" The gaurd asked before Tucker could answer.
"Tucker Johnasea and Amaiah Mooristette." He answered and the guard nodded and handed me a name tag and let is onto the grand enterance.
"Lets get you to your room so that you can relax for a little while before my sister attacks." He said and took lead. He pointed out some things and showed me where other things where.
"To the left is the girls side, to the right is the guys side and the middle the common room." Tucker said as he showed his name tag to the gaurd who let us down the girls hallway. "From 9 in the morning until 9 at night you can enter the other hall, before and after the common room only. No worries though, i was given a special pass your first week to help you adjust."
"So you're gonna crash in my room, then?" I asked and he blushed. Something I noticed only I could make him do. I first noticed it when we were kids about 8 and 9.
"I think I have to." He said sadly and I instantly wanted to cry.
"I knew you's remember, I just hoped you didnt." I said and he stopped mid stride to pull me to him. I held him tight as I fought tears. He pulled away and kisses my forehead.
"They'd be proud." He whispered and I smiled.
"Of course! I'm beautiful, smart, independent and have a mean right hook!" I exclaimed and he laughed.
"That you do." He said as he grabbed my hand and pulled me gently down the hall. Thats when the stares started and a girl about 17 approached us, she had light brown hair and freckles.
"Hey, Tuck!" She called, strike 1.
"Tuck?" I asked and he glared at the girl.
"Beverly, my name is Tucker, for the last time. There are only a handful of people who get to call me Tuck and your not one of them." He said kinder than the words sounded.
"Sorry, anyway, I was chosen by the committee to plan Javon and Zedekiah's annual remembrance. Jeremiah told me to shove off when I asked what colors to use, can you help?" She asked sympathetically.
"Javon loved Gold and Zedekiah loved anything light bluish grey." I answered and she looked at me.
"Gold and Grey?" She asked and Tucker nodded.
"That works. I gotta take Maiah to her room." He said and pulled me with him again.
He stopped in front of a door and opened it. We stepped into a small two bedroom apartment.
"Welcome home!" A girl yelled as she walked into the livingroom. The girl was very pretty with her creamy skin and beautiful brown eyes and hair.
" hi. I'm Amaiah but you can call me Maiah."
"I'm mariam and you can call me Marrie." She said with a smile.
"This is Tucker, he'll be my bidy gaurd for the next week, dont worry though, he bathroom trained." I said with a smirk and he laughed.
"I can feed myself, too!" He joked.
"Y'all are so cute together!" She all but yelled.
"I've been saying that for years!" Tucker's sister said from the door. I turned and smiled, my smile almost fell when I looked at her. Her normally beautiful shiny black hair was now dull and lifeless, her green eyes were hidden by dark circles and bloodshot eyes.
"Clarabeth!" I yelled and hugged her. I could feel her mood shift slightly.
"I'm glad you're here! This place is so boring without people I actually like!" I smiled through the shock of her statement, she was a people person who loved everyone.
"I'm glad I'm here, though, I will admit I wish Hadly was here." I said and Clarabeth nodded understandingly.
"Wait, ya'll know each other?" Marrie asked.
"Yeah. It's a little confusing, but basically Tucker, Jeremiah, my brother, Javon and our friend Hadly's brother Zedekiah were best friend and us girls, including Jermaih's sister Emmalyn, were best friends and we hung out all the time." I tried to explain.
"Dont forget dated." Clarabeth said sadly and a little darkly.
"You promised, Clara." Tucker warned.
"Yeah well she has the chance to be with the guy she loves so excuse me for being a little frustrated that she cant see you still care." She said.
"I'm sorry that you feel that way, Clarabeth. I'm aware that in the last year that things have been tense between your brother and I but I'm not ready yet."
"It's been 2 years! But, I'm sorry, your feelings are the only thing that matters!" She yelled.
"Clar-" Tucker started but I interrupted.
"I broke up with Kai the night they died!" I screamed stopping everyone in their tracks. Tucker grabbed my hand and his sisters.
"Lets not start this. You guys need to stick together right now, not fight."
"Why?" She asked looking at me.
"I was confused. I swore I was in love with Kai but I found myself dreaming if Tuck, of kissing him and having him take me to prom and all of those silly things we were crazed about. I broke up with Kai because I was confused and didnt want to lead him on if he wasnt what I wanted anymore. I tried to don the right thing and they died."
"Thats why Tucker got punched and Javon flew like a bat out of hell out of my driveway after getting Kai in the car." She said realization crossing her face.
"I killed them with my selfishness."
