Everyone has that one Christmas they'll always remember, this is mine. I was around the age of 7 when these... events... occurred. I was with my Grandmother and Grandfather this Christmas, like any other before, where we would sleep and wake up to presents and the like. This year, we weren't in much of the "Christmas Spirit". My Grandparents were arguing, my older sister was fighting with my mom and i was in spite of them all. Of all the times of the year we could be fighting, hating each other and just be down right nasty to one another, it had to be during Christmas! IT JUST HAD TO BE! I'm sorry, its just... never mind.

So, anyway, we were hating each other. The only reason we were even there was because my mother is used to coming to our grandparents during the holiday season. When my grandparents weren't arguing over something stupid they would lend us some advice and wisdom, like how to correctly shovel there snow, or why we celebrate the holidays (Tradition and Pagans, mostly). I, being 7, wanted everyone to be happy, so I grabbed the Grinch and proclaimed in front of my family "Hey! Lets watch this!" my mother sighed and said "Honey, not right now, lets just wait till tomorrow to watch that, ok?" I was appalled. I was angered. Every year we would watch "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" every Christmas eve, and we couldn't watch it this year? Well, why the hell not?! "We do it every year! why not this year?!" "baby, can we just wait till tomorrow?" "I WANT TO WATCH IT NOW!!!"

I know now that i was being selfish, but at the time... i just wanted us to act like a family again! My Grandmother grabbed her switch and swatted my behind. "You march up to your room and go right to bed!" she yelled at me. I pouted and stomped up the stairs to my bed. After a few minutes my Grandfather came to check up on me. He sat at the edge of my bed and patted my shoulder. "What do you want?" i said in an accusing tone. "son, I'm sorry about all this, i know we haven't been acting like ourselves, but you need to understand that everyones on edge, worrying about grown up problems. One day, you'll understand, you'll grow up, you'll have a wife and kids and you'll have grown up problems that'll put you on edge too, so enjoy it while you can" i ignored him. I could tell he was upset about it, but he knew there was nothing more he could do, so he went back to his seat downstairs. I wished they would all disappear. A wish i would regret for the rest of my life.

A few hours later, i woke up to an extreme cold... and screaming... i rushed out of my room and ran to the living room, where a monster and smaller creatures stood around my family, all in individual santa like sacks. They giggled as my family sobbed and screamed through the fabric. "NO!!!" i screamed at them. They all quickly turned they're heads in my direction, exempt for the large one. He was adorned in chains and a torn and tattered robe draped over his shoulders, his eyes were the eyes of a goat with a wild yellow tint, his mouth was in a wicked grin and he had hooves for feet, or i should say, goat legs. He bellowed a hearty laugh at me and snapped his twisted fingers. The creatures grabbed my family and jumped up the chimney. I ran at them to make them stop but the giant stopped me with surprising strength. He looked at me as my family was dragged away towards whatever hell he had in store, placing a bell in my hands and jumped up the chimney. In less than 1 night, my entire family was taken away from me, with "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" playing in the background.
