Bright summer days and sweet summer scents
Sticky popsicles dripping down my hand
What used to be.
Light laughs, airy and playful sounds
Giggling and goofing, a beautiful scene
What used to be.
The setting sun's arms reaching out in its hues
The waves lapping gently against the shore
What used to be.
The moist scent of soil and the color of earth
The blooming flower's aroma, sweet and strong
What used to be.
Gray skies, the rain that never leaves
The thunder that pounds outside and within
What is, and what will be forever more.
So I sit here waiting, listening to the storm
Waiting for my angel to come
But until he does, I will remain
I will sit here remembering
I will remember what used to be.
