Black darkness clouded her vision. Icy waves pricked her skin like a million thorns. She didn't know if she could make it anymore: her muscles ached and her limbs had gone numb from the chill. Each stroke left her arms feeling like they were going to fall off. All she wanted was to sleep. To sleep in a nice, warm bed. She had to break the surface, she was running out of air. With a great splash, she broke through the water for a minute's breath, then, dove back in. She had to make it to the portal before midnight, or else she'd be trapped there for the next hundred years, and she didn't have that much time left. Before her appeared a black hole, almost like a void, a vacuum of nothingness. She held her breath as she stuck her hand into the void and was sucked into a space of pure darkness...
