Long, jet black hair and twinkiling hazel brown eyes. 16 year old Lanita Hanson was your typical, music mad teenager, iPod switched on, earplugs in and the world blocked out. With her favourite pop song playing, she spun around her bedroom increasing and decreasing her speed to the rhythm of the song.

The song always made her smile, whether she was in the middle of a shop or the middle of nowhere she always broke into song. Kylie Minogue was her favourite solo artist and was her mum's before her. Spinning Around always reminded her of the school disco four years ago when her and her boyfriend took to the dancefloor and spun around in each other's arms. Her boyfriend, Lyndon Clark. He had sky blue eyes, ivory skin and beautiful brown hair. At 13, the love of Lanita's life was about to give her the news that would change her life forever.

Lanita and Lyndon walked out of the school hall at around half past ten on that freezing cold December night. Lyndon took her hand and led her to a bench. He sat her down and looked her in the eye as tears started to come into his own.

"Lyn? What's up?" She shivered as she pulled her coat tighter around her body.

"Lana..." he began.

"Well it can't be too serious," she thought to herself.

"I-I I'm moving away..." he hesitated as tears began to roll down his ivory cheeks.

"Wait...what do you mean...moving away?"

"Well you know my dad's in the army? Well, we've been posted. I know it seems stupid with it been so close to Christmas but I've gotta move,"

"Where are ya movin' to?" She hesitated

"Erm...South Africa...' he said turning away from her.

"WHAT?!" She screamed through her tears.

"I'm sorry honey, I would have told you before now, but my mum only just told me before I came and...well...we kinda move in two days," he stood up and pulled her in for a kiss.

In despair, she pushed him away and stormed over the playground. She swung the car door open just as her older sister, Maria pulled up, rushed in, slammed the door and rived her seatbelt on.

"Nita, what happened?" Maria asked as they pulled away from the school.

"He's moving away! He's moving away and never coming back!" She sobbed.

"What do you mean, Nita?" Maria said cautiously, as she concentrated on the road.

"His dad's been posted and so they're moving...to South Africa..." she cried as she stared out of the window into the street lights overhead.

Maria wanted to know more. Being Lanita's older sister, she guessed it was because she'd been through it years ago and knew it was hard to cope with. Lanita knew she could always rely on Maria when things got tough.

"Nita? Can I ask you something? Or do you want me to leave it?"

"Leave it Ria, I don't wanna hear it. I just wanna go home, it's been a crazy, busy day today"

This night was now playing havoc with Lanita's mind as she stood at the window watching her younger brother, Luke, helping their mum to bring the washing in. "He isn't even helping!" She mouthed to herself. "He's practising his Karate moves for goodness sakes!"

Suddenly someone grabbed her round her waist. "Gotcha!" Maria cried as she spun Lanita round like they were lunatics stuck in a normal world.

"Haha!" She laughed as though she didn't have a care in the world, but Maria knew what was really going through her baby sister's mind...

Maria placed Lanita back on the ground and helped her to steady herself.
