A/N: Hi guys! This is my first book! It probably won't be too long but I will give it my best shot! I hope you like it! ~Ellie

I sighed. Today was the day. I started 10th grade today. Great. Well at least I get to see my friends again. The bus pulled up and I got on. Yes! I was the first stop so I at least got to have some time to myself. Well with my sister too, but still! The bus driver was a burly looking man with a tangled beard and a flannel shirt, he had a white and navy blue trucker cap that sat on top of his almost bald head.

I sat down in the back seat. I pushed my short brown hair out of my eyes and pulled out my phone and read for a bit.

When the bus pulled up to school everyone slowly got off. Clearly no one was excited for school to start today. I sighed again and walked into school looking around for my friends I spotted some familiar faces over by the lockers. I fought my way through the 10th, 11th, 12th, and other 10th graders and got to my friends.
"Hey strangers!" I chirped. They laughed and all greeted Me. We shared our hugs and everything before hurrying off to homeroom. I rather liked my homeroom teacher, Ms. Gonzalez, she was also the Spanish teacher. I sat next to my friend, Alexis, who is usually called Alex.
"How was your summer?" I asked.
"Boring as fuck, yours?" She laughed.
"Same, my mom made me do a whole bunch of chores everyday and the rest of that time I was interneting"
"Uh I'm pretty sure 'Interneting' is not a word." She joked
"Uh, yeah, it is!" I giggled. The bell rang and I checked my new schedule, I had English first. I walked up the stairs and found my class.

The classroom had bookshelves on every wall and a bunch of little beanbag chairs around the room. I took my seat next to Alex. The teacher walked to the front of the room and introduced herself as Ms. Caldwell, she had long gray hair and big glasses and a squeaky voice. My mind slipped away from whatever the hell Ms. Caldwell was talking about, my eyes darted around the room. It was clear that half of the students had lost interest.  There was a boy who was 'secretly' playing games on his phone in the back of the class and a girl who was talking with her friends not even giving two shits that Ms. Caldwell was glaring intensely at her.

The bell finally rang and everyone practically sprinted out. I checked my schedule again. Band. I hate band class! I walked briskly down the hall and opened the classroom door. Most students were already warming up. I found my instrument locker and took out my drum sticks. I walked over to my friend ,Kaytlen, and we played our favourite piece together. She pushed her blue hair out of her face and told me all about the new anime she was watching when the teacher stepped on to the podium. He said his name is Mr. Harris. We talked more about rules and then we got to play a bit.

When the bell rang I bumped into my friend ,Ingrid,  and we walked to math class together. My math teacher wasn't here for some reason. The substitute said he was sick but then again she also hesitated as if having to come up with that on the spot. Whatever, it didn't really matter. I had lunch next and I love food so it was my favourite part of the day, it has been since 1st grade.

The cafeteria was packed by the time I got down there. My friends waved me over and I sat down. "Stupid faggot ass bitch!" a voice shouted from across the room.

"Could you say that a little louder I don't think Pluto heard you!" A boy standing next to the one who I imagined shouted the discriminatory slur. A girl with wavy brown hair had been backed in to a corner. She was clearly scared. I began to stand up, I was fuming with anger. My friend, Brooklyn, tried to pull me back down to my seat but I shook my arm from her grip.

"Hey!" I shouted. The two boys whipped around, the girl still trembling in the corner.

" Oh? Looks like someone wants to join in on the fun!" The biggest one pushed me into the corner with the girl.

"You didn't have to do that you know..." She whispered. I nodded. I took a moment to look at the two boys. They were both tall and broad, they couldn't be less than 6 feet tall. They smirked. The first punch flew toward my face and I yelped. The slightly smaller one was now beating up the other girl. I blinked and I could see my friends watch in horror to shocked to move. The punches and kicks flew from every direction it seemed. I was now curled up in a ball on the floor. He kicked me one more time and snickered. He waved his buddy over to his side.

"Think we fixed the stupid faggots?" My attacker asked menacingly. His friend nodded. I stood up. I hobbled up to them. And I punched them both in the face as hard as I could. They both stumbled backward and looked at me, clearly appalled.

"Miss Jennings!" A voice shouted. I looked up, a fuming lunch lady hurried toward me. Great. " Violence will not be tolerated in this school!"

"Wait! I was just beat up! How did you not see that! My fucking nose is bleeding! My shoulder is killing me! It was th-" He was gone.

"Nice try young lady, come with me!" She glared at me and led me away by my arm. I looked for the girl. She was slouching against the wall. 'Sorry' she mouthed. I nodded.

A/N: Soooooooo.........first chapter done! What do you think? It does get better, you know, less.....violent.  Next chapter should be posted soon! ~Ellie
