*A.N: This is my first story so I hope it turns out okay. I guess we will see how this goes. I hope you like it! Oh, and the girl above is Chloe. Thanks for reading! :) *

"Chloe! Get your butt out of bed! We're gonna be late for school!" I awoke to my annoying sisters voice.

"Ughhh, go away Jade!" I yell as I attempt to see my clock through my bleary, sleep filled eyes. 6:50. Ugh.

"Whatever, I'm leaving in 10 minutes whether you're ready or not." I groan as I roll out of bed and stumble to the bathroom. I hurriedly brush my teeth and quickly run a brush through my long, brown hair. I return to my room and throw on some skinny jeans and my favorite Supernatural shirt. "Well, time to return to the prison that is my school." I sigh as I trudge downstairs to see my older sister standing by the door impatiently twirling her car keys around her finger. I quick grab a granola bar as we exit our house, locking it. Our parents were still asleep. They hated waking up early, and their job didn't require them to even be up until 9. I was envious of the fact that they were upstairs sound asleep while we had to go sit in a building filled with hormonal teenagers for the next six hours. The next 10 minutes of our ride to school consisted of both of us singing obnoxiously loud and off key to the radio. I laughed as Jade attempted to hit Ariana Grande's high note in "Problem". We finally got to school, and as we walked in we went our separate ways to our friends.

As I search the faces of everyone passing by, I hear a familiar voice yell, "Trophy wife! Over here!". I laugh and shake my head as I turn around to see my best friend, May, flagging me down from the other end of the hall. She had started calling me her trophy wife ever since we played house together one day and she decided she was the dad and that I was her trophy wife. She thought the nickname was hilarious, so it just kind of stuck, I guess. We hug when we meet up, and begin walking to our first hour. We both had 4 out of 6 classes together, including first hour and lunch.

"So what's shakin' bacon?" May asked.

"Oh, you know, same old boring me, same old boring life. You?"

She thought for a minute before saying, "Same. We really need more excitement in our lives." I laughed.

"I don't know, I mean, boring lives mean more time to binge watch Doctor Who on Netflix."

"True, true. Hey, did you hear what happened the other night?" I raised my brow in curiosity.

"No, what?"

"There's apparently been a gang terrorizing people out in the middle of the night. They practically beat this one guy to death in that park near my house!" I gasped. That's terrible! Plus, the park she's talking about is only about a couple blocks from her house, which worried me.

"Do the cops know anything about them? How to stop them?" I questioned.

"They don't know much, as far as I know. Only that they call themselves The Blood Protectors."

"The Blood Protectors? That's a weird name." May opened her mouth, about to continue the conversation, when the bell rang, signaling the start of class.

"Well, this has been fun, but now our Hell awaits." I stated glumly. She rolled her eyes and nodded in agreement before turning and walking into our Chem class. I plopped down in my seat beside my friend Emma, while May scooted into her seat on the other side of the room. She turned and wrinkled her nose, casting a quick sideways glance at her table partner. I stifled a laugh as I shrugged apologetically, with a 'what-can-you-do?' expression. She playfully glared at me before turning around.

As I sat in Algebra last hour, I got a text from May.

May: Oh, BTW, I'm kidnapping you and forcing you to sleep over tonight.

Oh, May. I chuckled and shook my head as I discreetly typed a response back.

Me: Whatever you say.
There was no sense in arguing with her. She'd get her way no matter what, which is one of the reasons why I loved her so much.

I glanced at the clock for what felt like the billionth time. I swear the clock had said 2:00 five minutes ago. Time could not move any slower. Why must you taunt me? School got out in ten minutes, and I was beyond done with this hell hole.

Finally, the last bell rang and I shot out of my desk, slinging my backpack over my shoulder and quickly walking towards the back of the school, where I'd be meeting May. As I turned the corner and neared the back door, I saw May laughing and talking to Nate, a guy in our grade who I had never really talked to. He was pretty hot, with sandy blonde hair and gorgeous emerald green eyes. May has had a crush on him since 8th grade. They had been neighbors, which is so cliche, and used to hang out constantly, until Nate moved to another house in town. However, May never got over him. Here we were, four years later, and she was still madly in love with him.

I smirked as I contemplated interrupting them, but I decided against it, swiftly turning around to hide behind the corner. As I waited, I sneakily peeked around the corner to spy on them. A few flirty jokes later, they said good-bye and went their separate ways. I walked up to May, who was grinning from ear to ear. I wiggled my eyebrows at her.

"Ooohh, I sawww youuu. He was totally checking you out. I totally ship you guys." May's cheeks began to redden as I continued to tease her. "May and Nate sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G-"

"Dude, stop. Don't make me tit punch you!" She protested, attempting to cover my mouth with her hand. I swatted her hand away and continued to torture her.

"First comes love, then comes marriage-" I ignored her death glare and continued.

"Then comes a baby in the baby carriage!" I burst out laughing at May's reaction once I finished. She gives me the coldest look she could muster before literally punching me in the boob.

"Ow!"

"Well I warned you! I wasn't kidding!"

"Alright, Alright, I got it. Geez" I mumble. We open the door leading outside, the warmth from the sun instantly relaxing me. May and I made our way to the forest that was behind the school. There was a hidden path that we loved to take whenever we walked to her house. I breathed in the warm, spring air as we began to tread through the tunnel of trees. The forest was dark, but not eerily creepy dark. It was a more peaceful type of dark, at least that's how May and I felt about it. Then again, we had always sort of enjoyed more quiet, deserted areas.

"Can you believe we are going to be graduating in just 2 months?" May asks, breaking the silence.

"Nope, it's too weird to think about the fact that we will be off to college and on our own by next year." We climbed over a tree that had fallen in the path.

"Yeah, it really is. It's kinda depressing to think about, though. I wish we were going to the same college. What-" I instantly fall silent when a twig snapped to the right of us, only a few feet away.

"What?" May questioned, voice slightly wavering.

"Nothing, I just thought I heard something." As we continued our trek through the forest, I slightly craned my neck to look behind us. I came to an abrupt stop as my eyes locked on something that made me freeze in terror.

Two foggy grey eyes met mine from deep within the bushes.

We were not alone.
