Would he be less of a bother when we were Daenaryis and Jakob? Or would he be more, taunting me for being a prodigy? I shook my head, trying to get him out of my thoughts. There was no use for having his presence in my mind. He was a 472 after all. And I, the smartest student the world has ever seen. It was no competition as to who was superior. He didn't belong in the Draft, he never would. But I did. There was no reason for him to be bothering me, much less be here. That left me pondering one question.
Why was Michael Alessio a Drafted?
He looked up from the notebook in his hands again. "Council told me to tell you that when you're up, we're needed in the stradegedy cabin. They're in there discussing details or something like that." Grumbling, he stood up from his seat, closed his notebook, and placed it in his bag away from unwanted eyes. I furrowed my eyebrows and walked down the isle to the cabin in front of us that was separated by a door.
The strategy room was floor-to-ceiling covered in maps and blueprints. There were various weapons on racks lining the walls, and currently the room's lights were off. Lorenne, Xavier, and Council member Macklevoy discussed over a hologram of a blueprint. I stood there crossing my arms over my chest and looked at the trio, waiting for their acknowledgement of us. Michael knocked on the doorframe and they barely looked up, too concentrated on their blueprint.
"Sleep well?" Xavier joked, pushing a button to end the hologram. The room became light again as Michael and I walked into it. I smiled in response, and sat down at the long class table littered with all kinds of documents. "We will l need to discuss your mission plans Ms. Belasco and Mr. Alessio." said Council member Macklevoy, placing a large stack of paper in front of us. "What's there to discuss?" asked Michael, sitting down in the spot in front of me and flipping through the stack. "I thought I already contacted you on everything."
"Yes, but new orders will be placed into affect. A request from Commander Dano himself," Council member Macklevoy responded swiftly, pulling up an image of a castle on the hologram. Kovostrac's residence most likely. "As previously known, you are both going to impersonate the Virtanen couple as a way to get closer to The Soviet States Republic's dictator, Viktor Kovostrac, and ultimately assassinate him. To do this, you are going to have to assassinate the real Virtanens as well."
The look in Michael's eyes faltered. I didn't think he wanted to take the life of anyone else.
"Your arrival time to the capitol will coincide with that of Daenaryis and Jakob Virtanen." He continued, zooming in on a plane in the air. Their plane. It was terrifying how much a country so powerful knew and hid from the rest of us. "With that, you are responsible for tracking them down and assassinating them to take their place. It is essential to do this, since there cannot be a word of suspicion coming from anyone else." Council member Macklevoy stood up and paced around the room, staring at both of us. "Drafted, do you understand?"
Michael and I nodded in sync, both of us responding in a prompt matter. It was like an unspoken secret spoken between us that Council Member Macklevoy intimidated us.
"It is imperative that you follow these orders given to you. They are put there for a reason. Assasinate Daenaryis and Jakob as well. If these commands are not followed, your life is placed out of your control,"
"With that, I will leave both of you to discuss these mission details. Council Member Benoit, Council Member Belasco, and I will be in our private government cabin, just ahead of this on the north side of the aircraft. We will be looking forward to you carrying out this mission with precise detail. In 02 hours, we will meet again for your final debriefing." He finished, nodding for Lorenne and Xavier to stand up. All 3 of them bowed slightly at us, and left in a single file in the blink of an eye. Michael and I were left alone in the room, the tension from his "joke" earlier almost palpable as it hung in the air over our heads. I sighed and flipped through the pages without looking up. Assassinating Daenaryis and Jakob wouldn't take long to plan out by myself.
