MONDAY, DECEMBER 3
I was rushing from arithmancy class, already late to transfiguration because Professor Vector had kept me after class to talk about an extra-credit assignment for only her top students.
I turned the corner, and a felt strong hand clasp over my mouth, I tried to scream through the restraint, but my 'attacker' dragged me into a room cupboard.
It took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust, and once they did I could see the familiar platinum blonde hair practically glowing in the dark.
"Malfoy! What do you want?"
"I'm Sorry!"
"What?!" I asked, taken aback
"I said, I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For being a total asshole. I came to you for help, and you gave it. Then I got angry twice when I tried to talk to you."
"It's fine! I understand! Now can a please go? I'm already late for class and- wait a minute," I said, suddenly remembering an important detail "shouldn't you be in transfiguration this period, too?"
"Um... Yes. But one more thing before you go. Please?" He begged
"Okay, fine. What?" I asked growing agitated
"I was wondering if you would to.. Uh... Go to Hogsmeade with me next weekend?" He spilled out.
"What?" I was so surprised that I couldn't even answer Draco's simple question.
Sighing with obvious annoyance he asked me again "Will. You. Go. To. Hogsmeade. With. Me. Next. Weekend?"
"Uhhhh... I'll think about it. Now if you don't mind, I really do have to get to class." I said as a stepped (or rather fell) out of the broom cupboard, finally escaping the awkward situation.
When I finally reached the transfiguration classroom, I tried to slip in unnoticed and take a seat next to Harry in the back of the classroom, but to no avail.
"Miss. Granger, will you care to explain why you are late for my class." Professor McGonnogal asked.
"Er... Sorry professor. A uh... little first year dropped her books, and I was helping her pick up her papers and such." I lied
"Really?"
I nodded
"It's okay this time Miss.Granger but next time I ask that you please think about academic responsibilities while you're frolicking in the hallways. By the way, did you happen to see Mr.Malfoy while you were out there."
I mostly stood in the back of the room for the duration of her lecture to me, but her last question caught me so off guard that it took me a few moments to answer her.
"I saw him in the hospital wing, but I don't know why he was there, I'm sorry professor." I lied again
"That is alright, Hermione. Now please take a seat next to Mr. Potter so I can continue my lesson."

"You weren't actually helping that little girl were you?" Harry asked me when we left transfiguration class.
"Of course I was, what else would I be doing?"
"Hermione, you're awful at lying. I think even McGonnogal noticed."
"Okay, fine! I wasn't actually helping a kid."
"Then what were you doing?"
"I can't tell you."
"Hermione, we're best friends. You can tell me anything."
"Well I can't this time, Harry! I'm sorry." I said as I walked to Gryffindor tower for my free period.
I sat in front of the fire in the common room, my arithmancy assignment in my lap.
But my mind wasn't on my homework, it was on what had happened between Malfoy and me this morning.
"Should I give him a chance? Or should I just say no?"
I wanted to say yes, but what would my friends think?
Malfoy and us didn't exactly have the best past.
But he had opened up to me. And I wanted to help him out.
But what would my friends say?
Of course, I was all for second chances, and Draco certainly seemed to have changed.
Finally I made my decision. If anyone found out about this, they for sure would think that I was off my rocker.
I got up from the comfy armchair and began making my way down to lunch. Hoping I would catch Draco on the way there.
As I approached the great hall, I saw the familiar platinum head walking in front of me alone.
I quickened my pace, grabbed his arm, and pulled him into a side corridor where nobody could hear us.
"Yes" I said once we were out of earshot.
"What?" He asked, obviously confused
"Yes, I will go to Hogsmeade with you next weekend."
"Excellent" he replied, smiling
"Oh and by the way, you so owe me."
"Why?"
"Because I saved your sorry butt from detention with McGonnogal."
"Really? How..."
"I had to tell her that you were in the Hospital wing. Now it's your job to come up with the reason WHY you were there."
"Oh..um... Thanks. I'm sure I can think of something."
"So um... Draco. I'm really looking forward to Saturday."
"Me too" he replied
"So I'll guess I'll see you in class then?" I said as turned to enter the Great Hall for lunch.
"Guess so. See you around." He replied one last time as he swaggered off toward the Slytherin table.
"Merlin's beard." I thought "what have
I gotten myself into?"
