I have always been called special. My name is Palmer. I didn't have a childhood my mother put me up for adoption the second she had me. I have been in the "system" because I'm dangerous. I have 'powers' that I just can't explain. At least thats what all of my foster parents say. I either get kicked out, abused, and sometimes I just leave.

But the family I live with now is one that I hope to stay with for a while. It's a single mom with two little boys. James and Shaun. James is 3 and Shaun is 2.

I don't go to school cuz I have been kicked out of most of them and the other ones are way to expensive. And well Jen (My mom) just can't afford that. We live on the country side in New York. It's quite and the boys and I can play and be loud all we want.

Until one day some neighbors moved in. Three very old ladies with umm very interesting features. One had an eyepatch and they all had gray and wrinkled skin. And they were literally the definition of skin and bones.

At the beginning we didn't think much of it until there was this one blonde girl began going to their house with a silver laptop with a white triangle in the middle of it. She was beautiful and just from looking at her she gave off an aura of intelligence.

One night I walked over to the old women's house and noticed that the blonde girl was there. I knocked on the door and the blonde girl opened it. She looked at me strangely like there was something on my face. She pulled me inside and sat me down into a chair. She had storm gray eyes that I'm pretty sure could glow in the dark.

"What's your name and why are you here?" She asked me. "Palmer, why are you always over here and what is your name?" I didn't mean to say it with sass I just couldn't help it. " my name is Annabeth daughter of Athena. Who is your godly parent?" Did she just say Athena as in the goddess from Greek mythology?what the hell was she talking about! She must of seen how I looked like a confused puppy and screamed "Oh shit! Percy is going to be pissed!" She grabbed me by the arm got her laptop and pulled me outside and to my house. I was so confused what the hell was going on! Jen was already awake and she said "Oh Annabeth, you must have gotten my message." What does she mean by a message? My mom just looked at Annabeth. It was a look of honesty and sadness.

Jen and Annabeth sat down on the couch and started to talk about some camp. During the conversation my mom started to tear up and eventually started to cry. I just don't get why she's crying! It's not like this girl is taking me back to the foster home.

No, it was even worse. This blonde girl Annabeth is taking me to a 'safe place'. What could be safer than the middle of nowhere with two little boys.

She was taking me to camp halfblood. She said it was a safe place where people like us can be protected. What the hell does 'like us' mean.

I looked over to my mom and checked to make sure this wasn't a joke. She looked dead serious with the lines of tears going down her face. I don't know why but looking at her just made me brake down. She was the only person in the whole world I could call mom and now that's being taken away from me. All she said was "I love you. There is one thing this world can't take away from you your dignity."

I couldn't help it I started to cry as she walked me and Annabeth to the door. I got into her car and didn't say a word. And why should I she took away the only things I love in this world.

The second we stopped I swore this was the end. It was a big hill with a tree. Really you took away my family to bring me to a hill with a tree. That's cute.

We started to walk up the hill in silence. The second we walked up and over the hill it was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. There were cabins but not the ones you see at the camps you went to when you were a kid.

There was one with grass on top of it and another looked like a Barbie doll house. One reminded me of the ocean. There was a big blue house a volleyball court and some twisted form of a rock climbing wall with lava oozing from the top.
