She should have looked back. She should have. But she didn't. She didn't see me live. Oh, my little Ifrit.

"Lillian Linton! Where have you been?! " My aunt's response to my return was expected. "Where did you get such a... a..." Oh no.

"Beautiful dress!" For the first time today, I looked up at my aunt. Her graying hair was perfectly done, and her beady eyes looked at Lady Timberlake's dress in awe.

"It's for you! I was away the past three days making it! For free!"

"Then, why are you wearing it?" Maria appeared in the doorway, a smug look on her face.

"To make sure it's the right size?" I was truly expecting allot them to just laugh. Instead, I just heard a sigh.

"You remembered. You remembered my birthday." Oh, thank the Lord! Nobody remembered her birthday.

Honestly, I felt kind of bad. She did take care of us, after all.

"I'll just go and take it off so you can get it on." Aunt Brank nodded , tears threatening to spill over.

I ran to my room. Soon, I was out of the dress, and Ella took it to my aunt. Making sure she was gone, I locked the door, and leaned against it.

I was shocked. I was frozen. I was scared. And I was heartbroken. Finally something came over me.

"No!" The word left my mouth before I knew it, and the traitorous tears left my eyes and traveled down my throat as I sobbed. I slid to the floor and covered my face with my hands.

He was gone.
