It was my seventeenth birthday and my dad had forgotten again... figures.
9:00p.m.: Mom and dad had been fighting for 2 hours straight and I'm so sick of it. I sat on my old, broken bed in my tiny, old room and opened my texts. "Oh my god, this is the thirteenth text Nate has sent me in the past five minutes", I muttered to myself as I opened the texts.
Nate: bby i'm sry
Nate: i love you
Nate: I just want you to know that
Nate: babe it was just a stupid mistake.
Nate: answer now
Nate: she kissed me and that's it okay?
I deleted the texts. This was the forth time I caught Nate with another girl and I finally told him I was done.
Nate had been my boyfriend since the end of freshman year. The reason I keep giving him chances is because the good times are so good but the bad times are my least favorite days. He's just so cute and sweet.
I heard a faint knock on my door. "Come in", I whispered as I hoped it wasn't my dad.
"Happy birthday Blair!", my mom walked in my room with matches and a box. She sat on my bed a lit a match. "Make a wish honey!"
I smirked and blew out the match.
"I didn't make enough today to get you a cake or a cupcake. I hope this will make up for it though", she pulls a box from behind her. Her smile was as bright as the sun.
I opened the box and there was two more boxes inside. An iPhone box and a blue box with a brand name on it. "Is this an iPhone? Oh my god mom. And what's this?", I open the blue box and see a Tiffany and Co. necklace. My jaw dropped, "Mother! Thank you so much!"
"The phone is from you aunt in London, but the necklace is for me. I've been saving up for it for years. It's something to remember me by." A tear fell from her face.
"What do you mean?"
"Your father and I are getting a divorce and... I'm sending you to London. There's just a lot that is going to be going on so I decided you should go to boarding school in London. My sister will be only thirty minutes away from you so if you need anything, give her a ring." She hugged me tightly. "I'm doing this because I love you, baby."
I couldn't think straight. I cried at the sight of my mother crying. I didn't know what I was going to get myself into but I hoped it was for the better.
