*6 weeks later*
I had been training hard, and Sydney had helped me too. I finally joined the scout regiment and today was my first time going outside.
"Everyone ready to go?" Said eren, happy as ever. Through training we got closer, he talked a lot about his mom.
"Let's go" said captain Levi, in the lead. The team plan was that we all spread into different groups, to cover ground. The main group was Levi, me, Erwin, Armin, Jean, and Eren. Sydney and Mikasa were in a different group. As we went through town, I saw everyone stare at us in awe. It was as if everything went in slow motion, I was extremely proud of myself. I looked at the door as it opened. I saw the trees and open land, it was beautiful. We rode out as the door closed behind us.
"Okay sophia let me explain the signal flare to you. the Signal Flare has many uses, its main purpose is long distance communication. The Garrison uses it as a way to inform the higher-ranking officers how their mission is going, while the Survey Corps uses it as a way to communicate (often in the presence of Titans) to the rest of the legion.One improvisational use is to use them to conceal allies from enemy sight or to stop fast moving Titans.
Green - Mission started.
Red - Mission failed. Unless Yellow Flare is spotted some time after Red.
Yellow - Mission successful.
Red - Titan spotted. Used in order for the squad to avoid the Titans.
Black - Abnormal Type Titan spotted
Purple - An emergency of some kind.
Blue - An order to retreat.
Different Green - Change direction of the formation: Fired by the commander in one direction to indicate a change in the direction, and then repeated by the relay soldiers
Different Yellow - This lets everyone know that the mission has been terminated, be it successfully or failed." Said captain Erwin. I nodded and we separated. Minutes in, we had spotted various Titans. We soon saw a rare and captain Levi shot a black smoke.
"Take care of it" said Levi. Jean separated and killed the Titan and joined the squad again. We saw sydneys group beside us, when they were supposed to be behind us. We saw another rare go after them, and mikasa shot a black flare. However no one killed it, even after many attempted. It started to go after Sydney, and I tried to stay calm. Erwin suddenly took a very big risk, that could've killed all of us. He went after the Titan personally, and killed it before it reached Sydney.
"Are you okay?" He said, getting his horse and riding next to Sydney.
"I'm fine" she said, thanking him. I saw Levi glaring at him. He told Erwin to get back to his squad and to not try something like that again. We rode and everything went smoothly for a while. Suddenly we heard a high pitch noise and eren fell off of his horse, onto the ground.
"Eren!" I said, getting off of my horse. I ran after him and asked him if he was okay. He covered his ears and screamed in pain.
"Eren are you okay?" I said, tears building tears into my eyes. What I saw next was absolutely horrifying. I saw hundreds of Titans, maybe millions running towards my squad. Levi made his horse start running as fast as possible, leaving me and eren behind. All of the squad followed, but Sydney turned around and made her way to us. captain Levi noticed and turned around as well, telling everyone to continue on without him. I looked to the other side and saw a Titan taller than a tower, with extreme intelligence and strength. It gained on us and we had no where to go. There were Titans on both sides of us. The Titan seemed like a female, a female Titan? I've never heard of that one before. I grabbed Erens signal flare and shot a purple one. I covered eren with my body, and hugged him. He was still screaming in pain.
"Tell me what I can do to help you eren please!" I said, crying. The female Titan was right in front of us and it looked down at me. It reached down and grabbed me. I screamed and kicked and realized that this was how it all ended. I thought about all my life and was pleased. I looked down one last time and saw levi protecting Sydney from the millions of Titans running around all of them. I closed my eyes and waited for the pain.
"Get away from her you monster!" I heard eren say, as I saw a bright flash. I soon saw a Titan with the same height and intelligence as the one holding me.
"Eren no!" I heard Levi say, as he used his 3D maneuver to try to kill this Titan, but he just used his hand to grab the wire and throw Levi down. Sydney tried too, but she was knocked down as well. And then, this Titan, punched the one holding me.
"Eren?" I screamed in horror with tears in my eyes.
