[Chapter Forty] Where Age May Be An Issue

"What color are her eyes?" Kylie walked over and ran her finger over Marissa's tiny hand.

"Green, just like Bailey and Drew's." Kenna answered. We were all enchanted by her, she was so precious.

Bailey handed her to Kylie who held her for a few minutes. She was absolutely perfect and I welcomed her when Kylie handed her to me. She was so small and fragile and just perfection.

"She's beautiful." I handed her back to Bailey who was eager to hold her.

"Where's Micah?" I asked and Drew smirked and Kylie laughed

"With Caleb." I cracked a smile, poor guy was probably terrified but he needed to get over it, it's not going to be too much longer before he has his own son, Kylie was a couple months out now and that wasn't very long when it came to preparing for a baby.

"We'll let you guys get some sleep, kind of." Bailey reluctantly handed Marissa back to Drew and gave them both a hug goodbye, Kylie and I following.

"Time to get some sleep for you two?" Kylie asked and I nodded while Bailey shook her head.

"I've been here sixteen hours, I have to go make sure the painters didn't mess anything up and start putting everything together in the nursery." She stretched and yawned "Think you could drop me off? I left my car there yesterday." Bailey asked a little bashfully and I agreed.

"Help her." Kylie shoved me in her direction and I glared at her to which she ignored of course and we went our separate ways.

"Where is everything?" I asked

"My apartment, I have to load it all up but I need coffee first." I stopped off at a drive through to get her coffee and I got one for myself too, sleep was over rated anyway.

"What are you doing?" She asked as I turned toward our apartment building.

"Getting the stuff you need so I can help you." I wasn't asking or negotiating. She didn't need to be the one to do it all alone; it was a lot of work and I would be happy for the alone time together.

"You don't have to; I already knew what I was in for when I agreed." She took a drink of her quad shot coffee and I would probably be making a stop at the store for food and energy drinks sometime this morning.

"I want to Bailey." I reached across the arm rest and grabbed her hand as I drove to our apartment building. We had to make a bunch of trips but we got it all stuffed in my truck and I think this was maybe the fifth time I've used it but it did come in handy for times like this.

Mia and Gordon woke up but they weren't mad, they helped and said not to worry about them, Mia knew how to cook and would make them breakfast and they were adamant they could entertain themselves for a day.

Bailey and I went to the house and when we walked into the nursery, the furniture was already put together, thankfully, just nothing personal added yet. One wall had pink patterned wall paper with 'Marissa' painted on it and the other walls were a light brown, the one across from the wallpapered wall was painted like a forest and the other walls were bare. There were built in shelves up one side of the wall.

"So what are we doing here?" I asked her

"The bare walls will get pictures or shelves, the crib goes under her name and the rocking chair goes in the corner by the mural." It seemed easy enough. I moved the crib, chair, and changing table which were all in the same deep brown color and then Bailey had to help me move the dresser.

She looked at it and we ended up moving things a few times until it was where she wanted it. The changing table right beside the crib and the dresser ended up back in the closet area.
