Once upon a time

There was a girl

Who believed the lies

Her parents told

They said she was a princess

With a heart of gold

But time has passed

She's a few years older

She's just like everybody else

And her warm heart grows colder

Father stole the carriage

And Mother the crown

Her castles non-existant

tattered rags not a gown

Her glass slippers shattered

and left splinters in her feet

The mockingbird died

With a song not so sweet

Frogs are just amphibians

Magic pumpkins decay

enchanted mirrors break easily

Magics had it's day

She's finding out the truth

realities crashing down

she cries out for her prince

but she knows he's not around

This world we live in

full of hate deceit and lies

the stories we tell children

once our fairy tales have died
