Paige grinned. "You already have needed help."
"Be quiet." Cade said jokingly. "But I'm serious."
"We can tell." Sydney gestured to the inseparable friends. "What happened?"
"We don't exactly know. But there's another thing." Dannis dug around in his pocket and pulled out a paper. "We found this." Paige took it, and read:
"I knew this would happen. Fate. Destiny. Call it what you will. But know this. Only five people. But five more make East. When there's trouble, you know who to call."
"Bruce." Richard's words were barely a whisper. "It has to be him."
"Hold up, who now?" Cade waved his hands vigorously in front of his face to show that he didn't understand. He had short blonde hair paired with light skin and plenty of jokes. Dannis, on the other hand, was of Chinese heritage and his complexion resembled it. He had dark skin and black hair in the same style as Cade's, with the exception of his being shorter.
"Never mind about that. Where did you find the note?" Richard needed to know, and fast.
"I--"
Dannis was cut short by the sound of the warning bell.
"Shoot. We'd better get to class. Sit with us at lunch." Sydney waved at the two boys and walked down the hallway with her friends.
"I just don't get it. Five more make East? And why was East capitalized? I know it's a cardinal direction, but... And what's with that last part? 'When there's trouble, you know who to call?'" Richard was beyond confused, and even that was an understatement.
"Calm down. We'll figure it out." Sydney said as they turned a corner. "And why have you been so quiet, Allison? You're never quiet."
"I've just been thinking... The 'when there's trouble' thing? It almost sounds like part of a song."
