MARIA POV

I don't know what I was thinking, apparently I wasn't even thinking at all. This is the only possible explanation that I can imagine as to why I grabbed her by her waist, pulled her to me, and held her while she cried. I don't do that, this is not what our relationship is. Our relationship is not what I am doing at this moment. I should not be letting her cuddle me on her little aqua loveseat, even if she looks absolutely adorable and peaceful while she is sleeping. Wait, WHAT. No, no I did not just think that. That didn't just happen. I am still not sure as to why she broke down into tears in the first place. But it just hurt me too much to let her stand there.

I figured that I needed to get to the bottom this because this isn't like Alexis. In the whole two years that we have had, I guess you can call it a "special" relationship, she has never once bluntly ignored my texts or calls that told her to do something until now. After carefully moving her off of me, I slowly got up off the loveseat making sure not to wake her. I walked around her apartment trying to find at least one clue, but the only thing that I found was she has the most adorable knick-knacks lying around. Such as the tiny grey cat figurine playing with a ball of yarn or the little glass pumpkins on her bookshelf.

In the corner of my eye I thought I saw something flicker, ignoring it I continued to look around. I walked over to her mahogany coffee table and shifted through the pile of mail. Sighing, I moved on nothing but junk mail. I made my way over to her computer desk I thought I saw the flicker of light again. Screw the computer, I went over to where I saw the stupid light. So I wasn't going absolutely insane. There was indeed a red flickering light and the source was coming from Alexis's home phone. Reaching over I clicked the voicemail button...

"Miss Parker, this Officer Matthews, I'm so very sorry to inform you of such grave matters. But your Grandmother, Ruth Parker, was in an accident. She was hit by a drunk driver who ran a red light. And I'm afraid that Mrs. Parker passed away at the scene of the accident. I offer my condolences to you and your family."
