I crouch in the shadows,
jaws slavering, teeth bared
A low growl, like thunder overhead
Fur bristling, I take a stepI creep forward, tail held low
and ears pinned back
The others follow,
closing the trapA bit further...
nearly there...
We burst from the undergrowth,
jaws sapping and snarlingNow we feast in victory,
muzzles stained in sweet scarlet
Bones crunch, teeth rip and tear
We are powerfulThe moon is out,
dappling our fur and brightening our eyes
We throw back our heads and sing
Pure and beautiful and savageI raise my head to the stars
sitting regally above the others
Pelt black as sin, eyes like lightning
I am the Alpha, I am the king
