Reason Why She Smiles

FIRST

She called my parents because this is not the first time I did this.

I'm a really defensive person.

I won't let anyone hurt me.

The only thing that hurt me was when my parents got divorced when I was 7.

Johann and I were waiting outside the principal's office.

"Why did you fight back again?" Johann asked

"Sinabi ko na sayo,diba? I won't let anything hurt me again." I looked down

"You should've told me. Ako nalang sana yung tumulak para hindi ka pagalitan ng parents mo." Sabay hawak nya sa shoulder ko

"Edi ikaw yung napagalitan."

"Atleast, I'm a boy. It's normal for a boy to get scolded a lot than a girl,you know?" At inakbayan nya pa ako

I just smiled at him at lumabas na si Mom.

She looked at me in a disappointed way.

Hindi ako kinausap ni mom at quiet lang kami papunta sa bahay.

Sinama na namin si Johann.

Pagpasok ko ng bahay hindi na muna ako pinaakyat ni Mom.

"What happened? Tell me now." Kalmang tinanong nya ako

"He started it."

"Even if he started it,you shouldn't fight back. This is not the way I raised you! If your father find out about this he is going to take you away from me. Do you want that to happen?"

Tears from mom's eyes start to drip.

JOHANN

I came to school.

I waited for Kirsten until the bell rang.

I waited kasi baka pumasok sya ng hapon.

But,no.

After class I immediately went to her house.

I peeked at the window, I saw Kirsten crying and Ms.Deon shouting.

I don't know what was happening.

KIRSTEN

"No mom! I don't wanna go. I love it here. Please." I can't stop crying

"Your father is going here to take you with him in the US next week. You'll meet Jackie. She's a nice woman." Mom said

"I love you,mom. Please. I'm going to be a good girl. I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault,baby. I just raised you badly. I'm sorry. We will still see each other,don't worry."

"What about Johann? I need him in my life. His my bestfriend."

Mom wiped her tears

"My decision is clear. You're going there wether you like it or not."

Yup.

I'm going to US.

The principal of our school called my father and told him everything.

I am starting to hate her.

Lumabas ako ng bahay.

Umupo ako sa seesaw.

I was shocked because I suddenly went up.

"Johann?!" I shouted at him because his laughing

"I'm sorry. Didn't you see me when I sat down." He apologized
