"How come you haven't told Kevin the truth?" Demi asked.
"I know I said that I'm a wolf and I am but I don't have a wolf form. I was in an accident whilst I and Kevin were first dating and that part of my consciousness was locked deep in the back of my mind. I can't shift anymore, I've tried for years," Dani explained, keeping her voice low as Joe walked slowly behind him.
"I'm sorry," Demi apologised, walking out of the doors as the opened.
"It's fine, I didn't have to tell Kevin because it's no longer a part of me. As far as I'm concerned I'm a regular human," Dani climbed into the tour bus, Demi following behind her, "The doctors confirmed it, Demi is pregnant and a virgin, the baby's fine, she needs to rest though."
"I'm off to bed," Demi announced before any questions could be thrown at her.
Once Demi was in hers and Joe's room, she closed the door and stripped to her underwear. Wrapping herself in the mass of duvets and blankets, she sighed at the scent. They smelt like Joe, someone who made her comfortable.
"Did the doctors say how it was possible?" Denise asked, setting a mug of coffee next to Joe.
Joe stared at the liquid, the full ache of his head becoming stronger. He wanted to say he was fine but he had been having dizzy spells all day, ever since Demi discovered that she was pregnant.
"No he didn't," Dani answered as it was quite clear that Joe was absorbed in his own thoughts.
How could Demi keep a secret from him? Joe wondered whether Demi felt the same way as he did but she didn't trust him.
"He did, but it's a secret that Demi and Dani keep to themselves," Joe said, almost spitefully.
Everybody in the room frowned except for Dani and then their attention quickly turned to her.
"I thought we didn't keep secrets, we're married after all," Kevin stated, turning to his wife.
"It's not really my secret," Dani attempted to explain, "Well I know why but I can't really explain why. It's just something I know that you don't. This isn't very easy to explain."
"Why can't you just tell us the truth?" Sel spit out.
Dani almost narrowed her eyes at Sel. She knew the truth and she just decided to hold it against Demi, being an insensitive friend. She shrugged, becoming uncomfortable under everybody's gaze. Dani didn't fully understand what was going on herself and it wasn't her secret to tell.
"It's not my secret, Demi said she'd tell you when she's ready, but for now, she's struggling to deal with it for herself," Dani concluded the topic before she moved into Joe's room to go and check on Demi.
"What do you think of this Joe?" Nick inquired, sitting down next to Sel.
He looked at Sel, a weird look glazing over his eyes before looking at his brother. Joe's eyes glanced up to see his brother before shrugging. He mumbled something incoherent before stumbling into his room. The soft breaths that were being released from Demi were audible and Joe looked at her for a minute. She looked peaceful, almost as if she was okay with everything that was going on.
"Why won't you tell me the truth?" Joe whispered to himself, "Why does my head hurt like this? Why do I have so many questions?"
Joe flopped back on his bed, allowing Demi's breaths to put him in a trance. He looked down at Demi, becoming hypnotised by the look on her face, almost as if his energy was being drawn from his body to Demi's.
"Why won't you trust me?" Joe barely spoke.
His eyes closed, his heart beat slowing as he fell to sleep. He could hear Demi mumble something in her sleep. His eyes bolted open as he looked at her.
"It wasn't my fault," Demi mumbled.
Joe wrapped his arms around her kissed her head. She would always be safe with him.
